I think all of us here have similar experiences on the fuel gauge. Apparently part of the large reserve is to ensure the fuel pump stays immersed and lubricated. Questionable whether you need 4 to 6 gallons reserve to do that, but what you're seeing is consistent with most others. My previous truck was a Titan and I saw the same thing with it (6 +/- gallons left when the low fuel light came on).
