Any ideas or better ones for a custom amp install

I have a 2006 Double Cab. I decided to put 2 8inch Kicker Comps in a sealed box that I will build (under the back seat drivers side), and mount the amp/amps in the drivers side rear seat in the back(i will cut into the seat). I will have to chop up the rear seat to make it work. I cannot figure out another place to mount the amps. I ahve been looking for custom installs in the double cab and I could not find anything. If anybody knows on where I could find some information or if somebody else has done this IM ALL EARS!! If anybody has got any ideas IM ALL EARS!! I heard 8's sound good under the seat. I know this thread is kinda outthere Im just looking for some advice..ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED!!! Thanks Brad

Didn't the gen1 Tundras have a floor storage compartment? If so, how about turning that into a sub enclosure? And is there room under the front seats to mount an amp?

Hey Brad,

I got an 05 DC and dropped 2 8' in a box like you were talking about. They're just fosgates but what is really important here is the mounting depth. most of your good 8 in woofers, not that theres too many out there have a larger magnet or just too tall to mount in box.
Another thing, after I put them in. The plastic cover under the seats was to close and would rattle at any volume. so I took the dremel to it and made two large holes. I also have some bass cancellation with the limited airspace in the small box.

If I may make some recommendations:

One, im not sure what kind of a budget you have to work with but if its possible for you. Consider a custom console from your local sound shop. I say this because you will not be limited to 8s and thats a good thing. I have the install you describe, amp under driver seat like Toxarch said and its good for what I want(little bit of bass nothing crazy, Im far more for quality than lows). The bad thing about the custom console is that It would extend into the leg room on the floor. maybe thats no problem for you, great.

Two, if you are wanting to stay budget friendly or just dont want a custom enclosure standing in your aisle. I would just use one eight in the box and maybe get a second box under the other seat. I think that would sound better than 2 in one box, personally.

This post has gone on long enough. If you or anyone else reading this has any questions. PM me and I will definately help you in any way I can.

I have a 2000, but i think the interior setup is still pretty much the same. I have my amp under my passenger seat. All depends on the size of the amp though. i tried burrying a 10 inch pioneer shallow sub under my pass rear seat and it sounded horrible.

Hey anyone still looking at this thread? I have an 01' Access Cab that I mounted an amp under each seat (1 for mids/highs and 1 for subs) and am working on getting the truck ready to do a cut-through in the back wall to install 4 12's in the bed. Have been looking for a tool-box that would fit in front of the wheel wells and sit on the floor of the bed. I haven't had any luck finding a box that will work and be wide enough to be able to fit the sub-box in. ( going to cut a hole in the toolbox and seal the toolbox to the bed and bed to the cab) Any one have any suggestions whre I could find a toolbox? Was going to buy a piece of diamond plate and make a box the size I needed it but that is almost twice the price of buying a toolbox!

I was going to suggest buying the diamond plate and making your own but I see you already explored that route. How about building an MDF box in the bed, trim it to fit flush with the bed the way you want, and then use a bed liner over the whole thing to weather-proof the box? As long as you can access the subs from in the cab, then you should be good.
