New Tundra owner

My wife and I just got an 06 Tundra SR5 4x4 TRD been out driving it and was trying to figure out what the SHift L button does? no lights came on or off on the dash.. and it did not seem to do anything.

Also does anybody know if this truck has limited slip?? in the front and rear, or just the rear? or not at all. I took it on some gravel and in 4HI I got no wheel slip anywhere.

BTW the truck only has 9700 miles on it!!! SCORE!!

Thanks for any help.

Ken

Howdy Ken, and welcome to TTZ. Congrats on your "new to you" truck, and 9700 miles... are you kidding me??? Nice find!!!

The Shift L button (I believe it is to the right of the steering column?) simply locks the 5 speed tranny into 1st gear, I suppose for engine braking at slow speeds, such as going down a steep hill. Other than that I can't imagine what other use it might have.

Thanks.. for the info.

Yea.. 9700 miles is amazing!!! The truck has been used to do what trucks do best... hauling a trailer, and wood, and building materials.. But just not driven much overall.

Any idea if this thing has limited slip or not?

Thanks again. Will post pics of the new baby soon.

Ken

You know Ken, I'm not sure if the limited slip was even an option, but for some reason I seem to remember that it might have been on the 2005/2006 Tundras. You can always call a Yoda dealer with the VIN number and they should be able to tell you: 1) whether it was an option on that year model; and 2) if so, whether yours has the limited slip or not.

We love pics so post em up when you have a chance. Not knowing your experience posting on forums, if you have any problems doing so, take a look at this thread http://www.toyotatundraforum.com/new...your-post.html. If you still have any problems posting pics, then feel free to PM me or one of the other mods for help.

BTW, let us know if your truck does have the limited slip!
