I agree with the other responses, the dealership is trying to rip you off. You might want to check your bank, insurance carrier etc. to see if they offer a car buying service.

My Credit Union has a "Auto Acquisitions" program. I only go to dealerships to "test drive" to see what I want. I have not purchased a vehicle directly from a dealership in years. Through my credit union I am guaranteed invoice, and then any rebates associated with the vehicle. All I do is call the guy, tell him what I want and he does all the work. He even does the trade-in negotiating.

I also have USAA as my insurance carrier, and they assist with auto loans and purchases.

There are more options than just driving from dealership to dealership.
