iPod mod

I was bored today so I started to modify my ashtray (I'm not a smoker so it's just taking up space) to hold/store my iPod nano. I don't like just plugging it in and letting it ride around in the console so I thought this would be kind of cool.

First. Remove the ashtry and take off the faceplate by removing the two screws on the underside. Pop up the retaining clips below the screws and it just slides off.

Next I notched out the metal cover to allow the iPod to lay back a little when the ashtry is pulled out.

Next I drilled a small hole to fit a pin that I had laying around. This will keep the iPod from sliding forward and keep it from "jumping" around. It also helps keep it in place when I "fold" it flat the stow the ashtray...that's the plan at least. I still have to try that part.

Finished product as of now. I still have work to do cleaning everything up and hardwiring it to the factory radio. I'll post more as I get time to do more.

With that, it's the official start of my first mod...and I've had the truck for a total of two months.
