| Enviro. regs I think you've got it right. In today's world of environmental regulation, you have to pay to pollute. Painting is expensive to do it right and I suspect that Toyota using a method that reduces it's cost to paint. Unfortunately, that means that the paint is not as good as we are used to having. I don't think it's going to get any better, unless you want to pay even more on the sticker to get high quality paint from the factory. Only the highest priced cars (German, for example) still have good paint nowadays.
