Here is a thread that argues both sides of the hydrogen issue pretty good. In a nutshell one of the members states that unless you have an engine that produces more energy than its utilizing, you will not see a net gain. In other words, if the engine is producing excess energy, then that energy could be used to drive the alternator that then separates the hydrogen that is fed back into the engine as fuel (net gain).

If you have an engine that is very efficient to start with (e.g. only produces the amount of energy needed to propel the vehicle + load down the road) then more energy will be required to drive the alternator to separate the hydrogen (net loss given the energy expended creating the hydrogen exceeding the energy made available from the hydrogen).

Is the Tundra 5.7L producing more energy than it is utilizing? Not sure, but if it is then this increases your chances of realizing a net gain.

Either way this is still a very interesting project that I would love to see successfully implemented and no doubt I'm sure you will have fun doing it.
