| .... Ok, I'm confused!!!! I bought my 2010 Tundra Crewmax in August and my salesman told me that I had to come in at 2500 miles to get my first oil change...... when I called to make an appointment the service manager tell me that I do not have to come in till I reach 5000..... is this correct? |

| I bring my toyota to my dealer and they use 5w30? at no additional charge why is that? i figured my dealer was preparing my truck for the winter, since here in new york it does get pretty darn cold.

| I run Mobil-1 0-20 and do the changes at about 4500 to 5000 miles. To all you Tundra owners running 5-30 or any other oil weight than the manufacturers recommended weights of 0-20 or 5-20, you are begging for a problem! If something in your motor goes south and you have the wrong oil, guess what the service manager is going to tell you?????? No warranty!!!!! My 2 cents........ |

I agree ToyTundra, I'm not sure of the cost for an oil change at a US Dealer but an oil change at dealers in Southern Ontario Canada are only $38 plus tax...I think this is a very, very good price for a Toyota dealer. So, I agree, use the recommended oil and at least for me, I can't do an oil change that cheap so I will always have the dealer do it for that price. ps they use 5w20

| I'm surprised they use 5w30 in New York, your weather is the same as Southern Ontario and they put 5w20 in mine ??? |

| It depends on whether you have the 5.7L or not Mr. T. As I recall, the smaller engines use a range of 30 or 40 weight oil (depending on summer or winter), while the 5.7 states 0w-20 or 5w-20 regardless of the season. |

Now you have me wondering if the dealer messed up? I have the 4.6 2wd. He told me they put in 5w20. Was just changed 1000k ago, cold weather since. I'm goin out to the truck now to see whats listed on the bill. Give me a minute......................OK I'm back and even more screwed up??? At the top of my bill it says "Labor for oil and filter change 5w20........3 units (labor time).................$14.95. Further down where it lists the parts, the oil part listing says " 7 litre (QTY)... C0BB4 - 05W30...........5W30 oil" And now futher down it says "Next recommended service at 16000kms service, rotate tires, 5w20"...????? Now I look in the owners manual page 660 (for the 2010 model) and it says for the 5.7 and the 4.6 that either 0w20 or 5w20, but 0w20 is best for cold weather.? The diagram showing the temperature range for both oils are the same, ie -30F to +110F Tell me this doesn't get you screwed up Rarjar. I think I'm going to call the dealer tomorrow and ask them what they really did put in it. Anyone with a 4.6 and living in Southern Ontario or Northern States know what the dealer puts in theirs. |
