Engine remorse.....

Ok..... I'm sure I'm not the only one here that stretched the family budget a little to get into a new Tundra, right ??

Well........ I bought an 08 DC with the 4.7 because the $$ for a 5.7 (and options that come with it) would have put me into divorce court.

Anyway.... I've now had the truck for a little over 2 months and I'm having SEVERE engine jealousy. Every tiem I look at an aftermarket parts mag for performance upgrades - they all seem to be for the 5.7.

Now granted, this 4.7 is probably more than I will ever need for the little towing/hauling/off roading I do, but everyday there just seems to be this little devil on my shoulder screaming "HAHA, should have bought the 5.7)

Heck, even after sifting through the pic gallery, just about every truck in there has the red paint glaring at me from the little fender badge. Almost LAUGHING at me...

The REAL kicker is to see some of you reporting back about the deals you got on your 5.7's that came out less than what I paid. (course, I had had some lease incentives on my version that wouldn't have been available on other models) but JEEESH !!!! maybe I just didn't play hard ball enough in the dealership.

Don't get me wrong though, I love my truck. Just wanted to vent and hope that maybe there's someone else here in the same sad mental state.

Nat, at least my wife bought me a V8! LOL! Seriously though, I'm wishing (and she is too) that we would have gone with the 5.7 for the simple fact that it gets BETTER mpg! So in the long run the extra $$ for the 5.7 pays off. Don't feel bad, just vent away.

Hey there now. I like to think of it as "Olympic Bronze"...not as good as gold or silver, but better than everyone else!

Well I am proud of my truck! I do sometimes wonder how it feels to have more engine. But I am happy with it, I only wish I was at the dealer to add on like everything available.! my wife woulda killed me, haha had i gone alone.

Hey guys.. you got a Tundra.... be happy, you got the best truck around, regardless of the engine. I have the 5.7 and I can tell you, other than towing lots of weight, I don't really take advantage of the 5.7 (well, maybe occasionally when the hemi, or the chevy 6 liter pulls up beside me and wants to "play," lol!)

Don't get me wrong, I'm more than happy with the truck. Just poking fun at my lack of cubic inches...under the hood that is...

This sounds more and more like a Freudian slip regarding "engine envy".

No envy for me.....as I have the 5.7L though.
