Higher Octane Dyno Test

I've decided my first test, before any mods, will be to dyno w/ 87 octane and then at a later date w/ 93 to determine if the knock sensors will allow a wee-bit more timing, hence more HP.

I's got to know.

I should be driving in my new ride in another 3 hours.

Hope the finance guy doesn't try any backdoor monkey business. I'll probably walk out if he does. This process has gone much smoother than I'm accustomed so I'm preparing for the worst.

Congrats and I can't wait to see it!

I too would like to know because if you read this http://www.toyotatundraforum.com/gen...84-octane.html and believe what is posted is true then you should see as much as a 10 HP increase. Maybe?

Steve,

Can't wait to see the results. We noticed a big difference in performance once we got about 3000 miles on ours, You'll probably be better off waiting so your results won't change due to engine break in.

You, Sir, are a mindreader. It will be neat if there is an appreciable difference, on the other hand, maybe NOT. 93 is 20 cents/gal than 87 here. That's $5.20 more per fillup, or put another way, about 1.7 gals. less w/ 93.

1 hour and counting....tic...toc...tic...toc....

I know you have to ready to crawl out of your skin right now....lol!

Another question to be asked.....
With the Titans we were able to get performance gains by increasing the timing 2 degrees?

I was going to do it until deciding to go w/ a new Tundra.

There's a tuner shop in Austin,TX that actually reprograms the Titan ECU while on a dyno - a dyno tune. Haven't heard of anyone doing a Tundra yet, probably not because it's so new.

Would that shop be Uprev? If so I bet if you went over and talked to Chung over there...he may be into breaking our codes. I know that some of the guys that worked on the Titans with him also jumped ship or use to own a Toyota at one point. If you want to try a retrofit of a 90mm TB...I know someone who is willing to see if it works for us. He seems to think that they can tune it...but they don't have a truck to tinker on.
