Regardless of if you disconnected the battery or not, the ECU needs a good 100-200 miles (or even a full gas tank) to learn your new mod before you see the full benefits.

In addition, a good exhaust is needed to let the increased air out!

Don't forget to let that baby go too. When I put my CAI on my Titan after 60,000 miles with the stock intake it took a while for her to wake up. The same when I put on the banks exhaust on. It takes a while for the computer to learn your driving style so if you want her to scream then you're going to have to make her scream! I now have over 108,000 miles on my truck and it's a chore to keep her from spinning the tires from a standstill.

Having owned three relatively new trucks (all with aftermarket CAI's), I can tell you, the benefits of a CAI on a stock vehicle are minimal at best. Yeah, they do make a cool sound, but 7-10 rwhp on a 5,000+ lb truck is hardly noticeable in improved times.

Personally, I'm not wasting $300 on it for performance - maybe for looks, but not performance.

Catback exhausts work the same way. They sound cool, but don't do much for overall performance. Now, throw on a set of longtubes with true duals, and that's a different story.

By far, the best bang for the buck mod I ever did on my Ram or F150 was tuning. That gives the biggest improvement, and I'll jump all over it when one comes out for the 5.7.
