question

I see that it states silicon comes from the casted parts like a iron engine block. However our 5.7 Tundras have a aluminium engine block and heads. What is the deal with that?

Oil Analysis obtained by 3rd party Warranty Inspector

I recently had my oil changed at Sears only to discover 3 weeks later (truck running noticeably rough) - there was 0 reading on my oil dipstick. Sears topped off the oil. After complaining a warranty inspector for Sears insurance company retrieved an oil sample from my oil filter and sent it into to BlackStone labs for analysis.

First question - is it proper to obtain an oil sample in a "contaminated container" - he used a "RockStar Energy Shot" bottle that he rinsed with water about 3 minutes prior to obtaining the oil sample.

Second question - the report came back that the oil sample was taken with "few miles" since the previous oil change - when in actuality I was nearing another oil change and the sample was obtained at about 2,500 miles since the previous oil change. Does 2,500 miles constitute "Few Miles". The report also concluded there was 0 evidence of mechanical problems in the oil but that doesn't seem correct.

Report ALSO claimed the Viscocity was that of 5/20W oil - the sticker on the window of my struck says 5/30W

I have obtained the report from Blackstone but am not sure if it is proper to post here due to their confidentiality statement at the bottom of the report.

ANY ADVICE?????????

When I spoke to the tech who did my analysis he said that AMSOIL and other syntetics will read higher in silicon and molybdenum because of the additives in the formulation. He said my readings in these areas were fine once I told him which oil I used.

IMO, you could always remove any reference to the lab and post it happy.
