If you really want to know the difference between a 1/2, 3/4 or 1 ton truck, park the two side by side and look at the rear differentials and that's the kicker and can't be worked around with springs. shocks, tires or wheels.

With that said, people drive overloaded (I did) all the time because who can justify driving a 1 ton truck when they only tow or haul a few times a year?
