How can you not figure out how to stop a car with a stuck accelerator? If the car is out of control and the accelerator is stuck and you are going in excess of 120 mph, simply put the car into neutral and gently apply the brakes, pull over to the side of the road and turn the car off. Yup, people are stupid! No mass-production vehicle is going to overpower its brakes. Mash the peddle to the ground, and you will eventually come to a squealing, smoking stop.
EDIT: Just read that it was a California Highway Patrol officer driving that car.
