Thumbs up Road trip 1/2 complete

Little over a week a go (13th), the wife and I hit the road for WI from AZ. I purchased an HD camcorder before we left so I have evidence of my 20.7mpg @80mph.My MPG wasent the best flying up the hills from PHX to 7000ft. I topped off in Winslow with and extra 1.5 gal. I had some bad head winds, crosswinds and a little tail wind. We drove through too Tucumacri, NM with enough gas to spare to make it to Amarillo,TX w/no problem. The time and date on the video will show the average MPG. Overall the MPG was 19.7 for the entire trip. I am currently on dialup @ my inlaws, so I wont be back on for a few days, give you guys time to hash this out!

Impressive. I remember when I used to get decent gas mileage.

I'm thinking of adding a cool air intake to my 08 4x4 to increase mpg, which one works best

scottp25,
Many of us would say Volant is the best CAI, but I wouldn't count on significant improvements in mpg, regardless of CAI manufacturer. I saw a little improvement in mpg initially, but after a few tanks, it seemed to have fallen back to my pre-Volant mileage results. Resetting the computer helps for a while, but I've seen same drop each time after a few tanks. That said, I DO tend to be a little heavier footed just to hear the sound, lol!

I stepped on it seriously for the first time today getting onto the freeway because some bozo was making it difficult to merge. It sounded so good, I think I stayed on the pedal a smidge longer than I should have. :-)

Hey guys - just a heads up on overfilling the tank. I used to always fill my vehicles to the brim to get a consistent check on MPG. No More!
Our TV station did a report saying NOT to overfill. After trying their advice, I quit and am surprised that my MPG increased in two different vehicles, even checking it over 4 and 5 fills.
Try it yourself for several tankfuls. Can't hurt. L.L.Bird

Filling to the brim is bad for the carbon canister. But how does not over filling improve MPG?

Toxarch,

According to the illegal I caught earlier today, he said that the toyotaziods and the tundrazoids gotta merge in the flux capacitor to produce jinormous Texas Hoopsnake-like fuel efficiency like the farts of the infamous East Texas Jackalopes. You gotta leave a little space in the gas tank like the space in the jackalopes front buck tooths to help the throttle body like the one the Energizer Bunny has to have the max mpg allowed on our trucks.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info..

Hey Tox, Thanks for the filter info...I have an '07 RCSB Sport, magnaflow dual exhaust, TRD cold air intake and 20" rims...12K miles and run Mobil 1.
If, and as all Tundra owners know, if I can keep it under or even at the posted speed limit, I can get about 18-19 mpg on the highway and about 14 mpg in town. I did once get around 22 mpg on an interstate run but, I kept it at about 60-65 mph. I always run 89 octane. They just finished a beautiful divided four lane highway with some great straight stretches...I have a bad case of the "Got-to's" so maybe I'll open it up all the way. Had it to 112 mph and the truck was still "pulling" very well. Don't know if I was in 5th. or 6th. gear, I was too excited about how well it handled at that speed.
