Talking Great site

I just had the dealer turn on my alarm system, adjust the interior lighting time from 15 to 30 seconds, and set the door locks to lock as soon as I shift out of PARK.

I would never have known about these options, had it not been for this site.

Thanks everyone, for all the great information we get from reading the posts here.

So...I didn't know that the truck came with an alarm...do y'all think maybe it came with a remote start, and just isn't turned on yet?

Some models may be pre-wired for one, but I have the Limited and according to my service guy, it does not have the alarm system "ready to be turned on." If I find out differently, I plan to have a "come to Jesus" meeting with my service guy, lol!

I am positive the SR5 and Limited trucks have the alarm as part of the computer that just needs to be turned on. The Base model probably does too. When you "buy the stock alarm", it comes with a glass break sensor and a hood pin (fitted into a new hood release). They add those parts and turn on the alarm that is already installed on the truck. You can have the dealer turn on the basic alarm. If the service writer doesn't think the basic alarm is already there, take the sheet that tells him how to turn it on and hand it to them.

The remote start requires more parts for it to be added to the truck.

My bad Tox and Montreuil, I meant to say the remote start instead of the alarm system. I saw some previous posts that referred to the fact that the SR5 and Limited had the alarm pre-wired. In fact, my Limited came with the alarm activated (except for the glass sensor), so either it's standard on the Limited or my dealer activated it before I picked it up.
