I bought a router & table and made custom trim out of the same wood (alder) as the cabinets. We bought the place for $189K lived there for 15 months and sold it for $365K! I guess kitchens really do make a difference!

2. Our house in Kamloops, BC where we did a lot of outside stuff. We broke even on this house with the 25k in renos that we did. I think we could have done better but it sold on the first day with a quick possession.

3. To come: building a 31'x24' garage at our new house in North Bay, ON.
Nice work man, i renovated my house that i am selling, but not getting the nice return you got on your first place there.

First House

Well our first place was in Thompson, MB. We bought that one for $69,500 and sold it for $75,000! Good ole T-town, that is up in Arctic Tundra's neck of the woods. The picture didn't come through but Thompson is at the end of the highway, 732km North of Winnipeg. Churchill can only be reached by train from Thompson.

Thompson is worth visiting for a bit but not too long.

Forget this post (not that anyone was paying any attention to it anyway, lol!). I bought a complete rig off eBay today and will pick it up tomorrow (100 miles away). I'll try to take some pics and post this weekend. Cheers!

Very cool, I was going to college for Mining at Sir Sandford Fleming but they dropped the mining course (third year specialization) the second year i was there, so I ended up taking Geotech (third year specialization). Enjoying the geotech/civil part of it but I still have my rock collection hehe!

Back on topic, I have a 1902 schoolhouse that we just bought - literally last week. Hoping to put an addition on to it, looking forward to fixing it up until I get to that point. It's actually in not too bad of shape right now, all cosmetic repairs needed except for the tin roof. That needs some TLC.

Well Salem it is kind of funny, you used to live near me and I now have a good friend of mine living in North Bay that used to live here. Small world. I take it was Inco you worked for? The place is really booming now. I wish some of that boom would travel up this way. There is diamonds and other precious metals around Churchill but not sure of the feasibility to produce them and what grade they are.

A friend of mine in Sudbury, that I met working for Stinco in Thompson, went to Fleming for geology. Then he got his degree from Laurentian. He is a devout rock-licker.

There was quite a lot of hubbub about diamonds etc up around you Arctic. Since things have slowed down all over it will probably be a while before much can come of it.

One of the perks of being kind of a rare commodity in the world (mining engineers are pretty scarce) is that when I get moved around the company pays for my realty commissions and all the other costs associated with the move. This last one cost over $40k!!! Realtors give me the same yukky feeling as auto dealers and sales people, leeches.
