I have also learned the Pioneer AVIC-Z3 is now discontinued. The new model replacing it is the AVICZ110BT.

Tox... a few questions for you (if you know the answers) since I am finally considering replacing the OEM JBL head unit with the Pioneer AVIC-Z3 (if I can find one at a good price) or the replacement model you mentioned. Here's the questions:
1) will my steering wheel controls work, i.e., power, mode, volume, channel, etc?
2) will my blue tooth steering wheel controls still work (I assume the mic can be tied into the Pioneer system)?
3) will my amp and all speakers tie into the Pioneer (I thought I read somewhere where there is an adapter that ties the Pioneer into the exisitng JBL amp, subwoofer and speakers)?

Any advice/help would be appreciated... well actually, your helping me do the install would REALLY be appreciated, lol!

You saw my note about the Z3 being discontinued, right? They are supposed to announce the new unit and specs next month according to avic411. If you are OK with a discontinued item, then you can probably get it for a good clearance price after the announcement.

1.) Yes you can still use all your steering wheel controls. You have to buy a separate device (Pac SWI-X) that plugs into the steering wheel wiring to make it like a learning remote. You also have to buy a remote for the Pioneer. You can use mine to program yours if you don't want to buy one. Then you hide an IR transmitter either in the center console (near where the light is) or in the overhead. So you push a button, it converts to an IR signal and sends the IR signal at the front of the stereo.

See the 7th post in the following thread:
AVIC411.com • View topic - 08' Tundra and 08' F250

2.) You can't use the OEM bluetooth anymore, but you can use the Pioneer bluetooth (separate module to buy) and program the controls like in #1.

3.) Yes, there is a different adapter required for the install to use the OEM JBL amp and speakers.

I can come down one weekend and we can install it. Hopefully it's not too hot when we do the install.

Everything looks great! I bought an AVIC-Z2 last year and love it, too! The only problem I've had has been getting it to accept photos I've downloaded from my pc. What's the trick to getting it to work? I've followed the manual's instructions and saved the jpg. pics in a folder titled "Pictures" and added enough pics to exceed the 100MB requirement but still can't get it to work! Any suggestions? Thanks

I haven't messed with adding the pictures on mine. I had planned to put a picture of the truck as the background. My truck keeps changing and so I put it off until later. Someone said it worked when they did a software update like Pioneer's GraceNote update. They added the pictures to the same disk and that did the trick. Be careful cause that might erase all songs previously stored on the the hard drive.

I'll help on the install. Not sure on where to buy for the best price. I ebayed mine. After a quick search, this might be the best price outside ebay until the price drops when the new model comes out. www.highdecibels.com Home Theater, Car Stereo, GPS Navigation, and much more! AVIC-Z3, Pioneer In-Dash DVD Receivers, AVIC-Z3

And you have to decide what other modules you want with it. Bluetooth, satellite, etc. I think they have a Sirius module now. Not sure if the one you have will plug into it. I know they have an XM module and you can get XM traffic added to it ($10 per month) so the NAV will route you around traffic on its own.

Any idea of the add-on module part numbers? I think I understood from you that I would need the JBL interface module, the Sirius module, the bluetooth module and the IR learning module (?), plus I guess I need a Metra bezel (which I found on eBay). Anything else?
