It's my understanding that the Z3 is the same thing as a Z2 with updated maps and a larger hard drive. Since you have to enter the music into the hard drive one song at a time in real time, it will take you a LONG time to fill up the 10Gig hard drive space of the Z2 and even longer to fill something with a larger hard drive. BTW, the way songs are recorded to the hard drive is the only problem I have with the unit.

Good to know...can't you update the maps with a DVD disc? According to the specs from an ebay auction the Z3 hard drive was 30gb...same size as the Z2 no? Maybe there spec sheet was wrong...

Yes, you can update the maps with a disc. And it might be the same size hard drive. I had just heard that some people were upgrading their Z2 to a Z3 and putting in larger hard drives. So it might still have the 30Gb hard drive from the factory.

Do you have the ipod adapter on yours? Did you leave your microphone in the console in the same place as the pics in page 1 in this thread or did you relocate it? Do you know if it is possible to hookup additional LCD's (to put in the headrests) so the backseat passengers can watch?

No Ipod. The mic in the console did not work. I have it on the driver's side of the console held with double sided tape. Works OK, but I need to move it a little. Yes you can connect other LCDs to the head unit. I think you can have a DVD playing for the rear screens and use the NAV in the front if you want, but don't quote me on that since I haven't tried it. I haven't talked myself into putting screens in the back, mostly since I don't ride back there.

Hey guys, I'm a newbie here. Just bought a Tundra DC and I've been strapping my goodies on it the last month or so. My next project is the Avic, so I've been researching stuff and perusing your great info on the forums here. I read Toxarchs installation thread and it's just the bomb, lots of great info and pics. I just wanted to pass along something I had seen on another site regarding your Bluetooth echo problem.
Pioneer Bluetooth Echo Fix CD Information:

If you call Pioneer support and say "bluetooth echo" they will take your name and address down and ship out a bluetooth udpate cd.

This update can also be downloaded as an ISO file which can be burned to a CD. This CD or the one you get shipped from Pioneer is then inserted in the Z1 and by pressing MAP it will update the Z1's software in an attempt to fix the echo that the caller hears when using the Z1's bluetooth adapter. I have tested this and while it does reduce the echo, it's not eliminated. You can turn up the volume louder without an echo so it is better than before.

Granted this is for the Z1, but since the Z2 is just a glorified Z1, perhaps it's worth giving Pioneer a call about. Thanks for all the great info on the site! My old lady will be ready to kill you all for encouraging me to continue "modifying". I've got less than 2K miles and I've already put in a Volant CAI, Magnaflow cat back dual exhaust, nerf bars, and a cheap-o backup camera. I'll send up some pics when I get a little farther along.

She's going to really hate us when we show you the TRD supercharger made for the 5.7L Tundra.

Thanks for the info on the bluetooth update. With my mic on the side of the upper console, there is much less echo for the person on the other end of the line. Maybe with the update, the echo will be completely gone.

I looked on the Pioneer site and the update isn't listed under the bluetooth accessory. I sent them an e-mail so maybe they'll send me a copy and I can burn the disc myself.

Seems my rear camera stopped working. I was hoping at first it was just the reverse signal line, but I can't even manually switch it on. So far I have pulled the head unit to check the power to the camera. Power from the reverse signal is fine. Power to the voltage regulator is fine. Power out of the voltage regulator is a constant 6.95 volts. So now I am checking the wiring to the camera. If that is OK, then I guess I'll have to assume that the camera is out. If the camera is out, I might have to contact Sparks and see what the warranty on the camera is. Hopefully it is covered.

Bummer Tox... hope it's covered under warranty! Sure doesn't seem that long ago that you bought it (6 months or so?).

do the radio controls on the steering wheel integrate with the Z2? Also I wonder if the bluetooth controls on the steering wheel will work with the Z2 also.
