need help with backup camera install

Hey guys, I'm new to this forum and would appreciate some much needed advice. I just got my oem camera tailgate handle (76.00), rostra back up camera (183.00) and now I want to either put in a 7 inch double din dvd HU (no gps) or a 10.2 inch mirror monitor. What I want to know is how to install the handle and camera and have it all ready for the final step. I'm new to all this and would appreciate any advice, links, pdf files you can direct me to. I have a 2008 TRD crewmax with tow package. Thanks in advance!

hmm what are the odds? two threads that came up right next to each other. This guy just did his and said it was a breeze.

As for the head unit, the search button is your friend... and google works great too.

There are COUNTLESS numbers of threads about head unit installs of every variety, look around and find what you can before asking generic questions, then if you have a specific problem you can't find the answer too come back and give as much detail as possible and you might get a better response.

Not trying to be a dick, just helpful advice for most forums.....

Good luck with your install.

lol...thanks for your honest response goofball. Still trying to get used to forums and searching for information on forums as well. I've also never installed anything in any vehicle, so I'm a little apprehensive about doing it myself, but...in any case, thanks.

Nothing wrong with wanting information, there is a lot available out there...

check out this link, it's a google search narrowed down to only this site looking for 'head unit install'

site:toyotatundraforum.com head unit install - Google Search

there are a lot of other site too that can provide great information. One of those i use a lot is Tundra Geeks but it's down right now for a revamp or something. Should be up again hopefully soon.

Skip down 2/3 of the way in the following instructions from one of our sponsors, trdsparks:
http://www.trdsparks.com/install/00016-00086inst.pdf

There are lots of forums but the people here are some of the nicest in the Tundra forums. I wouldn't look up much of anything on Tundra Geeks, there are many better forums to go to first.

Thanks guys. I really like the part where there is a disclaimer stating (on the PDF) that it is recommended that you disconnect the negative terminal for 3 minutes in order to avoid accidental deployment of airbags. I can just picture it now...I'm in my driveway with wires everywhere and as I go to connect the power, every airbag deploys! lol
