| This might help. I copied this from one of my other write-ups. There are 6 T20 screws. Two in the front sunglasses compartment, two in the card holder compartment, and two in the very last bay in the overhead console. Some trucks use that for a light, some for bluetooth, mine just had a blank in it. Quote:

| From what ive read up on, with the radar detectors is that the lower down they are the better off you are from being detected with "Laser" So i moved my down to the bottom of the dash becasue of this but i do prefer it up higher like you have it in the pics, its soo far away now on the lower dash :| Anyways I need to still hard wire it in, reason i have not done this yet is because i still dont know where it works best, top bottom ect & where i like it best too.

| Bottom of the window is best for laser. Not sure in a truck since the front is so tall. Top of the window is best for all other types of radar. My theory is that once the radar detector goes off for laser, it's just a notice that you are about to be pulled over cause you've already been clocked. I have picked up stray lasers (from other cars being hit) with my detector and slowed down in time before I got lasered. |

| After seeing your post I hardwired my Valentine. I used the small plug to the right of the photos and in this plug the blue wire is not switched but rather the light purple one is. Thanks for the help. Torex t15 screw driver is needed to take the console down. 6 screws 4 in front and two under the rear light reflector. Pull the lense down from the back and the reflector also pulls down from the back. Thanks for the help in getting my detector so it is out of the way and always on! |
