Question keyfob/lock beeping

Okay, I tried to follow what it says in the manual but am not getting the job done correctly. Sorry if this has been posted before; I didn't see it in here as a subject, but just did a quick look and haven't searched the forum yet.

I want to disable the lock/unlock beep when I use the keyfob buttons. I have the 6-disc changer, not the JBL stereo.

Anyone done this and can point out the trick for me?

Thanks,
Blaine

Unless you have the "multi information display" you need to have a dealer do it. I asked awhile ago. I ended up having my buddy at a Lexus dealer plug into the ecu and shut the beep off. I also had him program it so a turn of the key or push of the key fob unlocks all the doors at once. He also programed it to not autolock when I get to 12 mpg.

Mid

Hey Tony-

Thanks--I forgot to mention that. I do have the MID (can switch between seeing avg/inst mpg, temp, dte, etc. by the clock on center of dash) and it doesn't seem to work the way the manual describes.

I can always get the dealer to do it, but thought it would be worth a quick check.

Cheers,
Blaine

I have the same problem. I have the SR5 DC, with the same MID that you have. Everything I've read, or been told (on this and other forums) is that you can only program it yourself if you have the MID built into the odometer (only offered on Limited models, I believe).

So I'm waiting until I figure out just how I want ALL of the options set, so I can have the dealer change them all at once.

If you figure out a way to DIY on your SR5, be sure to let us know!

Here is a document that shows the changeable options, either by dealer or by M.I.D.

I have an 08 SR5 and can not make the changes as outlined in the manual and the above PDF file. I can't even get anything more than the MPG, Clock, Miles and Temp. No other choices. The problem I ran into was wwhen I picked the truck up, it came with dealer installed VIP remote start. Everything worked fine. 20 days later the beep got lost when I locked the truck with the fob and it used to be that I could leave the lights on all the time and when I double clicked the lock on the fob, it beeped 1 time and shut the lights off. That went as well. Then the remote start went. Back to the dealer. The fixed the timer settings and the door lock options but no beep and no remote. Said it's in the wiring and I had to bring it back if I wanted a loaner. Now I get home, was it a week later and now it all works the way it originally came. I guess it just wanted to be clean and that was it's way of showing it.

The MID you need to make the changes, displays the mileage and options in the dash stack rather than the top of the dash above the radio. Usually only comes on the Limited model.
