Some Brake controllers require perfectly flat mounting for best operation. I see that yours is tilted slightly. Any issues?

Depending on the model, the Tekonsha's either have a leveling adjustment (Voyager), or they are self-leveling (new version Prodigy). I mounted my Voyager just to the left of the steering column (using self tapping screws that came with the controller). I'm 6'1", wear size 12 boots and have no problems with the controller being in the way. I'll try to take a picture this morning and post it.

EDIT: See pics below showing where the Voyager is installed on my truck.

I installed my similar but over to the right a bit more. There is a groove that seemed the perfect place to put the bracket:

You know PS.. I might move mine after seeing yours. I was thinking it was too tight for the Voyager in htat location because of the voltage adjustment rotary knob on the right side, but since it can be reached from the bottom right, yours and racer's location just might work for me. Thanks to both of you for the pics!

I should have gotten the Tekonsha when the rebate was available.

I'm wondering what that little cubby is that the red arrow points to and I suppose the area with the Gold arrow won't work due to your right leg rubbing up against it?

It's the finger-grip area of the ashtray. It tapers down to the bottom of the ashtray slide and isn't a useable space (unless you remove the whole ashtray) I did this in my Tacoma. It was the only place to mount one.

Installing Tekonsha Brake Controller

I just purchased a 2010 Tundra Crewmax with 4WD. I'm also looking for a place to mount a brake controller. Another problem I have is my truck has knee airbags so most of the dash is out. Has anyone considered mounting one in a glove box or the center console? Does anyone know of a reason why it wouldn't work?

Thanks,

Remember that your brake controller needs to be within arms reach in an emergency in case you need to manually control the trailer brakes. So putting it in the glove box would be out, and inside the center console wouldn't be the best place. Here is where I installed mine:

Easy to do, you just have to cut a hole in the back of the compartment for the brake controller plug. And there's plenty of wire to do it when you combine the Tekonsha wiring with the Toyota harness wiring. Just be sure to add a wire from the Tekonsha harness ground to the truck's gtound.
