And for the center console LED. I used a very small and fine triangle file to cut the leads. I wanted to make sure I didn't use anything that could destroy anything being that close to the finish of things.

By he way how so you frost the LED?

I don't mind helping out. Glad you got it all in OK.

To frost the LED, I just put it on the grinder to rough up the finish. You can use sandpaper or steel wool or a file or even your concrete driveway. Just get rid of the smooth finish on the LED.

You wanna hear something a bit off-the-wall? I drive around with a water bottle full, in the first cupholder spot. At night that blue led hits it and lights up the entire bottle. It gives the truck an awesome, but small, lighting display in the darkness of the cab. Try it once!

I have found that if I put my phone in the small cup holder, then the phone tends to turn and reflect the blue light straight into my eye.

I have to admire your patience! Maybe Toyota can in the future can offer a simple switch to flip to customize the color scheme to the owner's preference or mood?

Ah, mood lights... perfect for that romantic back seat, or for the braver, front seat special occasion, lol!

You have to take it back apart and set the needle correct. Just spin the needle counter clockwise until you get back to the middle of the zero mark and you will be fine. Look at the picture of where mine was marked with the tape in the first post for reference. Mine now shows 64 when I am doing 65 so it's a hair off. I figured I will change it when I get bigger tires so it can wait until then.

Ford offers that option in their Mustangs. They offer like 5 different colors. I'm sure Toyota could do it if they wanted.

crazy.... I clicked over Tox's DIY blue LED Swap and I thought it was that little light behind the ashtray change swap but it wasn't. Little did I know about the "truck disection" about to unfold. You know you should include difficulty level on your DIY's. Just a suggestion.

The little light behind the ashtray was the hardest one to change. The little bugger didn't want to come out. Have you ever tried to saw metal using 3 mm long strokes? Not easy to do. And I've done it on two trucks so far. I'm about to do a third one. I rate the difficulty of this mod as a 38.

I think you would like the tailgate lock DIY mod.
