Hi everyone,
Has anyone used an electromagnetic parking sensors before? The concept of a stealth sensor along with not having to drill into the bumper sounds very appealing but I can't find any useful reviews on the net about it's performance, i.e. problems or disadvantages. It looks like some high end cars use them like on some Audi's.
Here's a link to one of the sites I find a very inexpensive solution:
Backup Sensors
Here's a explaination on the site, for those too lazy to click on the link:
Instead of drilling holes in your bumper to be warned of obstacles when backing up, this kit has an electromagnetic sensor (uses Electromagnetic Waves as opposed to Ultrasound Waves). It is totally concealed by sticking the strip sensor on the inner surface of the bumper. The installation does not change appearance of the bumper while provides total protection to the back of the vehicle without any blind spots close the bumper. The system is automatically activated when reverse gear is engaged. An Electromagnetic field is generated by the strip sensor around the bumper. When an obstacle enters this field, the electromagnetic field suffers a perturbation that changes in relation to the distance of the obstacle. The perturbation is detected at a distance about 80cm away from the bumper and is transformed into an acoustic signal that increases in frequency as the obstacle moves closer.
What do you guys think? Any input would be appricated. Thanks!
