| I haven't seen this topic addressed yet, but I was wondering if anyone has tried this. I have an '08 SR5 with the standard A/C controls, and was wondering if it is possible to upgrade to the automatic climate controls without it being too involved or expensive. Surely it can't be as simple as just swapping out the knob cluster/controls, right? |

| I think someone tried it on an 07. It didn't work.

| I just got done looking at the AC portion of the manual and there's a butt load of extra sensors for the Automatic A/c like a Solar, Room temperature, Ambient Air Temp Sensor to name a few plus both systems use the ECM so I venture a guess there is also some programming involved too.

| So it looks like one guy on TS might have it figured out. If not, then he is closer than anyone else so far. I'm going to skip you ahead to his post. You can go back and see the rest if you want. There are some helpful pdfs in there. Change Manual a/c heater to Auto digital - Tundra Solutions Forum Seems that you of course need the controls, but you also need a $25 thermistor and a $106 solar sensor. The latter will be useless in an SR5 since it lacks the air baffle that the solar sensor controls. That's as far as he's gotten. |
