Driving Lights

Hey Guys
My Crewmax came without fog lights. I would like to install some driving lights in the OE location.
I want some power, I want some that would burn a hole though a brick wall.
Has anyone seen any this small. OE looks like it will only take a 5" light.
Any suggestions

5" light fits in there perfect. I put 55watt driving lights in the fog light location, but I have them turned down toward the road. I don't know if they have 100 watt lights in that size. My 8" lights behind the grill are 100 watt. The reflection off street signs with the 100 watt lights (plus high beams) on can almost blind me at night if I look right at them.

I was thinking about these

PIAA 540 Series Driving Light Kit

Size: 5" Diameter Light Color: Xtreme White Beam Pattern: Driving Bulb Type: 12V - H3 55watt=110watt XTRA Xtreme White Driving. SAE compliant Features: Black stamped steel housing, glass lens, and mesh style covers. Kit Includes: Two lamps, wiring harness, relay, switch, and two black mesh style

I don't know how 55w can equal 110w (unless they are add the 2 together) or special bulbs. But they list other lights with 55w bulbs and they are only 85w.

They must be adding the two lights together.

Whatever you get, make sure the beam pattern is what you want. Put a couple of pencil beams in there and they are only good for long range straight ahead.

The best thing about having a new Tundra is it makes you feel like a kid again.

My new Piaa lights should be in today. I've read Tox's tutorial about 5 times so I should be good to go. I think I will get the power for the relay from the parking lights (w/o interior switch) that way I don't have to go into the dash. I think they should be ok on all the time when the lights are on.

Hope they fit ok. They are a hair bigger than 5", but I wanted some with real power.

Looking forward to seeing the write up on the install. Sounds like you're going to have fun.

Here they are

Pretty easy job thanks to Toxs step by step instructions.

I had the same problem Tox did, I ended up changing the mount from the side to the bottom. I thought I was going to be ok with this because I had driving lights and not fog lights so I thought my beam pattern was round rather than horizontal. No big deal. These lights as I expected, were just a little to big to fit into the cup so I had to be real careful fitting the cup around the light. All in all they came out good. Awwwsome light. Very heavy and well made, worth the high price.

Another thing I noticed while the truck was eye level. My front chrome bumper is rusted badly on the upper lip. Seems a little premature at 2000 miles.

Looks good Tireproz... any concern about the heat from the driving lights distorting the plastic around the cup? The bumper rust sucks... if it were me, I think I would have the service guys look at that.

They seem to be ok with the heat right now. Time will tell.
It's definitely going back to the dealer for a new bumper.

Nice job! Must come in handy having a lift available to use for little projects like that.
