Tox, looks like a great write up. I thought you said you bought the programmer tool. How often do you use it? Just once and then collect dust? I have lots of those.

I used it twice. Now it sits in the console. It's in a box so dust can't get to it.

Thumbs up Late Entry.....

Another helluva DIY write-up Tox. Good job on the install, pics and write-up.

Probably going to need the alarm now with your new wheels et al.

Tox Reading over compustar web site and was wondering if you can clear something up for me. They mention 2 shock sensors, but nothing about a glass break sensor i see you installed one did that come with the kit or did you have to add that? I was looking at the Pro 2WSSR. I was just going to add the toyota glass break sensor to my truck but id like atuo start as well so was looking into this. Also be nice to leave my truck runing for a few minites why i run into strore etc with out having to leave keys / door open to do it (this would be for my dog gets up to 114f some times)

Yes, I had to add the glass break sensor. Don't recall who makes it. I'll need to dig around to find the brand if you are interested. You can add any modules you want to the alarm (or to any other brand alarm as well). I've never used the function to keep the truck running while I pull the keys out. I usually just use the remote start after getting out if the dog is in the truck. It will run for 15 minutes and then warn me before the time runs out.

ok thats what i thought, was hoping for the best though. im sure i can find one so no need to look it up.

The way you wired it did you have to buy a by-pass module for the factory alarm or does it by-pass it already?

ehh I'm thinking i might just buy one of the cheap 30-60 dollar auto start kits, and the $107 toyota glass break sensor, and then have that hook up to a Train horn when i add a on-board air system in the future.

edit: dam just was looking around on e-bay and holy cow that oem sensor is amazingly over priced

I never had the factory alarm turned on. But it is wired to turn on/off the factory alarm when I arm/disarm the new alarm.

And yes, the factory GBS is expensive.

I was having trouble getting the headlights to come on after the remote start install. They work when I negative pulse the white wire at the switch, when the stalk switch is off. When the switch is on parking lights, it doesnt work. Is there another place to control the headlights, like a relay or something. thanks
