Blinglights review

I have previously installed a set of 5" driving lights where the fog lights are supposed to go. I was sent a free pair of BlingLights fog lights to install in the truck and do a review.

Here's the lights with and without the halo ring:

I believe they claim these lights mount right into the Tundra, but they don't. You still have to make a bracket of some kind. I used 3 layers of a metal flashing I had laying around. to make a workable bracket. You could probably bend the factory tab over, but you would probably have paint flake off.

The first set I installed was a 5" driving light and these are 3.5" fog lights. That is the reason for the gap around the edges. I started to make a metal piece to fill the gap, but it's not that noticeable unless you are really close. Also made the lights look like they float in the center of the surround piece.

So anyway, I decided to take some pictures to compare the new fog lights with the old driving lights. Let's just say I was less than impressed with the fog lights. They were not very bright and had a pretty poor light pattern. You would NOT be able to drive with just the fog lights on. And the light would bother on-coming traffic with the light pattern unless you point them way down. And if they point way down, then they don't look good on the truck.

So I drove in the rain Monday night and then went to change out the passenger side with the BlingLight. I looked at the fog light already installed and there was water in it. I had noticed the drain hole in the bottom of the light and the loose rubber cover on the back, but didn't think it would get that much water inside and hold the water more than 24 hours later, even after driving around.

Here's the fog light... fogged up.

And a close-up picture of the water still inside:

After seeing that, I had no interest in leaving the fog lights on and having the water maybe short out the light or do whatever to the light. Plus they aren't that bright so they would be mostly for show. So I put the driving lights back on for now. I might use the fog lights in the new bumper when it arrives. Or maybe throw them on the 4 wheeler.

My conclusion is that I would not recommend them to anyone. They are not bright, not sealed, bad light pattern, and I still had to build my own brackets to mount them.

Good review Tox, should be helpful to others who are considering the Blinglights... let's put a sticky on it for now, OK?

I was not impressed with the Bling fog lights. As Tox stated , brackets must be fabricated, poor light pattern, overall poor quality. I attempted to return the lights to Ebay seller and they would not refund purchase price. Claimed I had waited too long to return lights.
Lesson learned. Don't buy from Bling lights on Ebay.

I agree with everyone here, Bling lights really do sux

after receiving the wrong colour & calling them for an exchange for the colour i wanted they said "sry sir we dont have them in stock right now" so i dealt with it and went ahead & put them in anyways colour really didnt bother me anyways. BUT i too have water leaking in them now, also the Halo doesn't even work after just one month of having them on the truck. lights sux cant be bothered to contact them again & be fobbed off with some other story, so word to other beware of Bling lights esp the halos

there are several options out there, but i havent really seen good reviews on any of them. i was thinking about getting some for my truck, but didnt want to waste the money on something i wasnt going to like. if you are just wanting to spice up the front of your truck and make it look different, you could always go with the blackout MOD (but just chose whatever color you want). here is a link to a DIY that is on another website...as well as a link to another thread that has some pics of my truck after i did it, and one or 2 other trucks that did it.

hope this helps,
