I am not sure what the horn hook-up would do on a unit that is a remote start - lock/unlock only, what does it say in the manual? If horn hookup does lock/unlock confirmation chirps, then I would need to know the polarity of the hookup.

on the primary harnes (h1) wire connection ,the brown wire supplies (-) 200 ma output that can be used to honk horn .it outputs a single pulse when locking and two for unlocking .this wire also puts out pulses for 30 seconds when panic mode is activated. this is what the installation book reads , so i guess i can hook on to the horn circut , which is on the bottom plug of fuse box 24 pin plug pin #1 if this is correct.

Good, then it will work. You will need to connect it to connector DB Pin 1.

I'm starting to soldering the wires for my DEI 5901... man... lots of wires!

I'm going to use T-tap connectors to tap into the vehicle's wires... the instruction book discourages using T-Taps or other type of connectors.

What do you think wleeb? I just do not want to mess up with soldering the vehicle's wires.. in case I want to remove out later on.

IMHO, you will be doing yourself a favor in the long run by soldering all connections. Once you have done a few it is very easy. The problem with T taps is they can fail with time and that can be a nightmare to troubleshoot. If you did want to remove the wires later just cut at the vehicle connection point and tape.

wleeb, great post, very detailed and much appreciated. The worksheets are awesome. I'm installing a Python LE Model 872 security and remote start in my 2008 Tundra crewmax. I've got pretty much everything ready to go just a few questions for you before I start. Simple ones I hope.

I previously installed a remote start alarm in an 01 Suburban and remember the door lock situation being so much more complicated. Your worksheet indicates direct connection of door lock blue and green to NJ2 Pin's 16 and 14. What's confusing me is that my door lock input to alarm is a 3 pin connection blue, red, green, that runs into a DEI 451M (2 relays in 1). Can I just cut the 3 wires (blue, red, green) from relay and direct wire the blue and green without needing the relay. Is this just provided for worst case scenario depending on your vehicles application.

If so, can I use the left over 451M for the 2 relays needed for the dome supervision relay and auto head light interrupt relay.

Lastly, connection 87 on the dome supervision relay is just tapped into JL1 Pin 14 correct. No need to cut the wire. Thanks for your help in advance!

First a disclaimer, I am not familiar with the Python LE Model 872. That being said, the door lock unlock signals are low current inputs to the BECU that do not require a relay, you should be able to fire them directly from the 872 without the 451Ms.

I am not familiar with the 451ms but if they function like a normal relay then they should work for the dome supervision and auto head light interrupt relays.

Yes, the dome supervision wires in parallel with JL1 Pin 14, you do not cut the wire.

Thanks, for your response. Everything I have for the 872 mirrors the DEI 5901 install paperwork and wiring diagram exactly, so I think all should be good.
