Also, anyone know if it's possible to install a toggle switch on that wire to act as an on/off switch for the siren? I'm not into the whole alarm deal, I bought it mainly for the remote start function, I know there is a stand alone remote start, but the 5701 was cheaper than the stand alone remote start.

I figure if I cut that wire, the siren won't work at all, and by installing a basic toggle switch I can just switch it on/off as I please. Any ideas?
I believe you have to open the siren up and there is an area of traces you can cut in order to get different tones. As far as the toggle switch, you can put it on the red wire of the siren to toggle it on or off. If you have multiple sirens, then just put it on the brown siren output wire and it will disable all of them.

Hey dotsad,

I am not sure what you are using an external relay for on the H3 connector?

Anyways, here is a screen shot of the H3 connection from the Electrical Connections workbook from the first post that may help.

Sorry to bring this back to life, but I could use a little more help.

Thanks for the install guide, its helped a lot. This isn't the first install that I've done, but this one is beating me down more than any other one that I've done.

I bought my wife the little pink 5701 alarm & remote start for her truck.
The truck is a 2007 tundra. Right now I have everything working except for the damn remote start. Door locks, parking lights, shock sensor, etc...all work fine. When I go to remote start it, I get 7 flashes "Manual transmission mode is enabled and not initialized". I have programed the remote several times (and seemingly correctly w/ correct number of chirps and confirmation sound).
Heres how I programmed it to auto mode:
  1. Open car door.
  2. Cycle ignition key ON then OFF. Do the next step within 10 seconds.
  3. Press and hold valet switch until LED flashes 3 times (siren chirps 3 times), then release.
  4. Press and release valet switch once then press and hold. Siren chirps once.
  5. While still holding the valet switch, press UNLOCK button of transmitter. Siren chirps 2 times.
  6. Release valet switch. Cycle ignition key ON then OFF.
I have the toggle switch installed and on.

I have the Neutral safety switch installed to a good ground (truck is an auto).

OEM starter wire was cut with the violet H3/4 going to the starter and the

Green going to the key side (H3/5)

Tach wire is off OBDII wire.

Brake input is hooked up correctly.

I'm using a XK05 bypass...which I'm not a 100% is working correctly, but if it was messed up, the truck would still at least try to start.
This was suppose to be an early Christmas present and I was going to surprise her when she got home the other day with it, but instead I just had all the guts ripped out of the interior of our truck. With a fancy pink security system and no remote start.

I have NO idea what it could be!?!?! and its driving me insane .

The Viper MUST be programmed for Automatic mode or it will not remote start. At this point, the XK05 programming is incidental until the brain is programmed for Automatic Mode. The procedure you outlined in your post is correct:

Automatic Transmission Mode Programming
Programming the remote from the valet switch is a major pain in the arse. You may consider purchasing a 998-T Bitwriter Programmer w/version 2.5+ firmware. If you have the programmer then simply set REMOTE START OPTIONS 3-01 TRANSMISSION MODE to AUTOMATIC and you are done. There are several BWs on Ebay, here is one example.

Once you have it programmed for Automatic Mode then confirm that the XK05 module is programmed correctly. With the key switch in the ignition position, is the red LED off? If so, then it is probably programmed correctly, if not then follow these programming instructions.

XK05 Module Vehicle Programming
  1. Connect the module and turn key to ignition position. LED will come ON solid; start vehicle.
  2. LED turns off. Module is now programmed.
  3. If the LED does not turn off, check all wiring and reset kit. Repeat steps 1 & 2
XK05 Module Reset
  1. Press and hold button and plug in module. LED comes on. When LED goes off, release button.

I've followed that procedure several times and it seems to be "confirming" that it was programmed correctly into auto.

I think it lies in the XK05. The LED is never going out (with the key in switch). The thing is, that I'm getting two different wiring schematics...yours and the one that came with the bypass. I have it hooked up now with the D2D cable and according to the xpresskit, I just need to hook up the keysense, TX, and RX wires. . According to the instructions from the kit, the green is the keysense, but on yours its to the security LED.

I'm going to try and wire up the bypass without the D2D cable and see if it makes a difference.

Do I need to change the tach settings on the alarm system from virtual tach to voltage?

I've got to be so close and of course now its getting down to the low/mid 20's this week...maybe I could completly unhook the XK05 and try to program it? Might be worth a shot because I've been over the wiring several times and checked all connections with my multimeter.

Thanks for the response

OK good, you have confirmed that the Menu 3 Remote Start Feature 'Transmission Mode' is programmed for Automatic.

Now you can focus on the XK05. Did you purchase a XK05 with PKT2 firmware installed? If not then you will need to find someone that can program it with the PKT2 firmware.

If it is programmed with the PKT2 firmware for you model Tundra AND the LED does not go out with the key switch in the ignition position then it is not programming the key code. This could be due to the IMI wires (AJ5 Pin 14) being wired backwards, try swapping them (Vehicle side with ECM side).

I did not use the D2D at all (left unhooked). As for the green wire going to the key sense, not sure which Immobilizer you have, does not sound like it is the XK05. See the attached document 1579_XK05103_H00_S00_D06_I_EN.pdf.

Menu 3 Remote Start Feature 'Engine Check Mode' will not prevent the remote start from attempting to start but since you indicated that you wired to the tachometer in your previous post then I would set it to Tachometer. Voltage Mode would work as well.

I'm checking with the seller about what exactly was programmed on the bypass (firmware, version, etc..).

Thats where I'm going to start, with the XK05 wiring. I actually have the PKTI unit I believe (thats what printed on the back). Heres a quote from their website

Quote:
Directed Electronics announces the immediate availability of downloadable PKTI firmware, enabling remote start installation on encrypted Ford, Mazda, Lexus and Toyota vehicles including the 2009 Toyota Venza.
According to Derek Schumann, President of Directed’s OEM Integration division, “PKTI firmware gives installers more options, with a faster and easier install at the ignition switch, catching the RX & TX wires. PKTI now comes pre-loaded with the programmable XPRESSKIT XK05 Transponder Interface, which is now available at a reduced price, and PKTI can also be flashed to existing XK05 modules which might be in dealers’ inventory.”
The XK05 with preloaded PKTI firmware temporarily overrides the factory immobilizer only during remote start, maintaining the integrity of the manufacturer’s anti-theft system.
XK05 with preloaded PKTI firmware is now available with an MSRP of $99. For more information, please contact your Directed Sales Manager at (800) 876-0800 or visit www.xpresskit.com.
The wiring "guide" on the front of it goes:

Input= (-) Brown...ground when running*

Output= (-) Green...Key sense
Blue = N/C
Violet/White = N/C

Output= Violet....RX
pink/white = N/C
Pink = N/C

Output = Orange....TX

Input = (+) 12 volt*

Input = (-) Ground*

* = Not need to be wired IF using D2D cable

I dont know ...lol.
