Very nice job. Taping and wiring the labels before install is a nice idea. Much more organized than I was. And nice job labeling the connectors. Wish I had those pics when I was doing my install. Would have made it a LOT easier.

The alarm works very well. I have not tested the remote's distance but it is advertised to be 2000 feet. I am happy with the purchase and would buy it again.

Note: The 2-way remote uses 2 CR2016 batteries which you can buy at DigiKey for .38 cents each. The 1-Way remote uses a CR2032 battery which is .28 cents.

That looks professional. Good job.

Looks better than some of the so called professional installs I've seen.

Amazing work, Just FYI I recently had a DEI Avital two way alarm and auto start installed for $500.00. The two way works up to 3 city blocks away. I could have gotten it for up to a mile for a hundred or two more, but i did not think it was worth it. It came with an LED Key fob to let you know what could be wrong with your vehicel. The Led Key fob will sound an alarm or vibrate. It will let you know if your door, hood,or glass break is opened or broken. Also if someone crashes into it.

Here is the led key fob and what to bring if your alarm sounds late at night.

Good work Wleeb, you are a Electric Ninja.

Well I got half of my 5901 wired using your detailed writeup. Thank you very much. My Biggest mistake was to hire a local to finish it for me since I do not have the time and man my alarm doesnt work correctly. I literally punch my windows and it does not go off... ..

This is what I have installed.

Viper 5901
1 DEI 530T for front WIndows
1 DEI 530T for rear windows.
1 506T, 1 520T, and a 538 space disturbance.

My problem is the alarm does not go off, the glass break sensor he hid under the steering column. So i tap my window with my key and it never hears it. I have my shock sensor on 15 and it doesn't go off either.... When I remote start the truck and turn it off the headlights stay on.

I tried calling this guy to come back and fix it and too many excuses. So i am stuck with this headache. I will fix it myself but need to figure out how to wire the auto headlughts to not stay on.

Sorry to hear about your trouble LuisC. I assumed I would experience the same thing so instead of the grief I found the time to do it myself.

Audio Sensor
The 506T should trigger the alarm by tapping a key against the window. If it is not triggering then it could be any of the following:
  • Wired incorrectly
  • Sensitivity is turned all the way down
    • There is a sensitivity potentiometer on the side of the 506T, if I remember correctly clockwise increases sensitivity and counterclockwise decreases sensitivity. I have mine set about midway and don't experience any false triggers.
  • Microphone is disconnected
    • Make sure the microphone cable is securely seated in the 506T
Make sure the "Sensor Trigger" (Security Feature Menu 1-12) is set to "Single", if it is set to "Double" then 2 sensors will have to be trigger within 5 seconds of each other to trigger alarm.

Shock Sensor
You have the sensitivity maxed out @ 15 on the shock sensor so it should trigger the alarm with very little movement. Make sure the Nuisance Prevention Circuitry (NPC) has not been triggered. If it has been triggered then you should hear 5 chirps when you disarm.

Automatic Headlights
I had the same problem with my automatic headlights. Toyota's Automatic Headlights Feature keeps the headlights on after the engine has been turned off until either a door has opened or the headlight switch is turned off. So I connected a 12volt SPDT relay to the "Factory Alarm Arm Output" of the 5701 and interrupted the Automatic Headlight switch input to the BECU when the remote start was turned off. Open the Viper 5701 2nd Gen Tundra Electrical Connections workbook and look at the "Viper 5701 - H2" and "Auto Head Light Interrupt Relay" worksheets for details. Make sure that "Factory Alarm Disarm-With Unlock" (Convenience Feature Menu 2-7) is set to "Remote Start Only"

Thanks for the FAST and detailed response. I will take a look inside the truck today and see what I find.
