Last question, promise :-)

My 2-way remote is kindda beat up and I might need a new one soon. Is programming a new remote as easy as opening the door, turning the ignition switch to "On", holding in the Valet/Program button, then pressing and holding the "lock" button on the remote at the same time?

Yes, the procedure is fully described in the LE Quick Start Programming Guide, first page.

I had no problem with the XK05.
Here are a few things to check.
  1. When you purchased the XK05 did you have it programmed for a 2007 Tundra?
  2. Did you use the procedure below to program it for your key?

To Reset:
  • Press and hold button and plug in module. LED comes on. When LED goes off, release button.
Vehicle Programming:
  1. Connect the module and turn key to ignition position. LED will come ON solid; start vehicle.
  2. LED turns off. Module is now programmed.
  3. If the LED does not turn off, check all wiring and reset kit. Repeat steps 1 & 2

This is the wiring diagram I used, double check your wires. If the IMI wires are wired backwards it will not program. If everything checks out and the XK05 still does not program then try swapping the IMI wires
