Hi all! I ran across this PDF and was wondering if this will work or not? I'm more of a SmashBang kind of a guy then Hum, Buzz, light.......... so if someone with some electrical experience could check it out I'd appreciate it before i screw up my truck.

Lots of reading so I skimmed through parts. Looks like it should work.

I just read it and it is kind of cool and the guy who wrote it and did the drawing knows his stuff.

DIY: Enable DRL Function

Even though your Tundra does not have DRL from the factory, all the wiring for DRL is
already in place. What you are missing are the DRL/Flasher Relay, and the Logic to
control this relay.
All the factory functional logic to control the DRL is located inside the Main Body ECU,
but you can’t turn this control on. Nor will Toyota allow the dealers to turn it on.
That’s Ok.
You can “replicate this logic” outside the Main Body ECU using two relays.
This design will enable your DRL to operate as follows:

With Ignition Key “On” the Turn Signal Bulbs (27-watts) light up as the DRL.

With Headlights “On”, the DRL will be turned “Off”.

When using the Turn Signal, the DRL for the side you wish to signal will turn
off function as the DRL and turn on function as the Turn Signal until the turn
indicator is canceled. Once Canceled DRL function will return.

If you would like to be able to turn the DRL system off at any time you can
install an “Optional Switch” (of your choice). Please see the diagram for the
location to install the optional switch.

Please note: I have intentionally left out of this design, the ability to turn off the
DRL lights when in Park with the Parking Brake applied. I did this to save the
cost of a third relay and simplify the design as much as I could. Install switch

instead if you want to turn them off.

I find it easier to just switch on the headlight (low beam) and leave it on all the time. When I leave and lock the truck, the lights are on a timer of about 20-30 seconds, after which they go off automatically. The battery does not appear to be drained from this setting, even after the truck is sitting idle in the driveway for a few days.

Yeah, I do the same especially since I don't have the automatic headlamp control option. However, the dashboard and temp/clock backlighting does dim slightly when running with any exterior lamps on, which may or may not be a problem - usually not because of the crazy tunnel design.
Also found out that double-clicking the lock button on the remote turns off the lights immediately.

I can't really comment on the original topic though, because the Canadian edition has DRLs enabled by default.
