What made you decide to do dual mids? Having all 3 speakers so far apart (and the tweeter in the factory location) is not the best for staging. If you need help finding an RTA, I know of a couple of free ones for a PC that are pretty good.

I went three-way so I could have better mid-range control. This will give me three cross-over points to tune to and since the mid-bass and the mid/tweeter are bi-amped, I will also be able to adjust there as well.

The audio processor has an RTA built in - just have to hook up a mic.

Work has installed a 'Net Nanny and I've lost access to pretty much everywhere during the day and never got a chance to update.

Anyhow, the driver's side sail turned out perfect - even better than the passenger's side and I was really happy with that one

Got the sound deadening done and the speakers in driver's door.

Set my amp gains to prevent clipping:

And using one of my wife's studio mics, some test tones I downloaded and a Real Time Analyzer I ran some level tests.

I don't know if the mic didn't have a full enough range or a flat response but I didn't believe the results and have just set it "by ear" for now. It sounds really good but I'm sure there is more in there and am currently looking for a professional with the proper tools to squeak the last bit out of it.

So, once the snow has finally finished melting and the streets are dry, I'm going to have it detailed and I can get some pictures of the completed project

"am currently looking for a professional " Your too much. Man it just gets sweeter. The only problem is the first three pics are red X. Don't know if its on my end or not, but the other pics came up nicely.

They came up soon as I posted. Cancel the neat icon.

SO the alpine system can be used as a dvd/mp3 player, radio, and a NAVIGATION system? And its that small, wow id love one of these, but can tha gap under the system from the factory big navigtion be covered? how much do you think it would cost to install one of these, not including the cost of the speakers, only to INSTALL the main system?

OK....I did my install this weekend for the AVIC Z1 and for the most part everything went great!!! Thank you for all of the greatly detailed instructions. However, the only thing I can't get to work is the backup camera. I bought the Toyota OEM camera that is in the tailgate handle. I have 6.46 V at the wiring harness under the back bumper....and I have the camera turned "on" in the AV settings on the AVIC. I must have a problem in my video (coaxial) wiring. I took the A-pillar approach and tried tying in there. I used the black wire and white wires for the power wire and ground.....and I used the red for the center (V+) and a gray wire for the shield (V-). The one thing I did notice is that there are actually two gray wires located in my harness and I haven't tried using the other one yet. Would you suggest I do that? When I shift the truck into reverse the camera screen comes on but it is just a blank (black) screen. Any suggestions?!? Is there a certian type of coaxial cable that I should be using? What I bought was from Radio Shack and actually I think it says audio cable on the package....does that matter?

Thank you so much!!!

Jesus PS-RagE that was alot of hours put into this install looks great and I'm assuming sounds even better thanks for the work log and pics. I was getting panic attacks just thinking of installing a nav unit with a back up camera since i have absolutely no electrical experience but eh thats small potato's after reading this post. I need to go practice my soldering skills just attempted to soldering my brake controller harness up and wow i suck i had to just go buy some butt connectors, but if I'm doing things behind the dash i defiantly want it to be soldered, hopefully i just need some practice to get it down.
