Best aftermarket driving lights

I am looking at adding some driving lights on my 2010 CM (the wife gave me permission, finally).
So I am looking for what are the best driving lights in terms of distance and brightness (street legal, of course) and how to mount them. I looked at the westin bullbar, but find ti expensive for just the purpose of mounting lights. I also looked at the PIAA 520 driving lights.

ls let me know what you recommend and if you have pics, that would be great also.

Several members have installed the PIAAs. Tox has a thread here that might help you decide: http://www.toyotatundraforum.com/gen...d-weekend.html

My big lights are not "street legal" but my small ones in the bumper are. If you want bright pencil beam lights, the best are probably KC Lights with the 100 watt bulbs. Though I wouldn't suggest pencil beams unless you just want to look way down the road. In my opinion, pencil beams are too narrow.

For closer range lights, most prefer something like the Hella 500 series lights. They are only 55 watt but I think Hella says they can handle a 100 watt bulb. If you want long range light, I would suggest a eurobeam light pattern. You get the long range and the light is still spread out enough to see the sides of the road and the road closer to you pretty well. You can also mix the light patterns if you can buy the lights separate.

Tox,
thanks for your response. I have looked at yours for a bit now, and like that they are behind the grill (somewhat theftproof), however, my concern is that I hve a Platinum edition, and that the light may not shine through the grill enough for what I want. What do you think? I am looking for a good driving light, 25% angle, that goes distance, but also lets me still see the side of the road a bit as well. I also thought of putting them on a bullbar or lightbar, to have them "more exposed". Your comment would be greatly appriciated. Thanks.

The Limited grill might block some of the light but you would still have most of the light get through. You could always change out the grill for something less obstructive. If you mount them on a bull bar or light bar, then there are security nuts you can buy to prevent people from stealing the lights.

The bottom half of this should help you decide what beam pattern to get. You can mix patterns if you want to achieve a certain light dispersion.
Lights & Lighting Research Guide Compare Best

I use the eurobeams (behind my grill) to light up the road and use a small pair of (cheap) pencil beams to light up the road shoulders.
