Others have installed the Mass Air Flow Sensor upside down. The symptoms are as you described. Try that.

thanks

I know it was a minor error, thanks for the help. My truck turned on with a meaner growl. I flipped over the sensor and up it went. thanks again

Your welcome. By the way welcome to TTz. Any other mods? What truck do you have?

another prob

I have a 2007 5.7L double cab TRD. After i installed the intake and now that it is running my check engine is on along with the vsc off light. Did I forget something. Oh by the way I was looking into replacing the factory speakers any suggestions. I had an audio guy tell me that the front door speakers that are 6X9, aftermarket speaker will not fit, he said i have to go with a 6 1/2. Any thoughts.

I'm betting the computer is still showing a MAF sensor malfunction from it being installed backwards. Unplug the battery again for 5-10 minutes and press the brake pedal for a few seconds (to use up any remaining juice in any capacitors). That should clear the computer. Then connect it back, start the engine and see if you still have the lights on.

As for the speakers, you can put a 6x9 in the front doors if you use a speaker adapter. Some cut the old speaker out and use the factory surround, others buy the plastic piece online (ebay should have them), and some make their own.
