05 Tundra DC - Inside Door Handle Not Working

I have the whole driver's side door apart and need help to get this fixed asap or my husband is going to flip out.

The inside door handle is connected and pulls and doesn't seem broken, however it isn't working to control the lever. I presume it has just come disconnected at the lever. It works from the outside. The door lock works.

How do I get it reconnected?

Thank you,
Kasey

Have you pulled the handle out and looked at it? Is the rod still connected to the door handle? If so, then the handle might be plastic and broke. If the rod is not connected, then see if it just came out of the clip or if the plastic clip broke.

Thanks for such a quick reply. I haven't pulled the handle out to look at it since the handle itself seems to work. The handle pulls and the cable is attached. I hear a clicking sound near the lever. Should I still take the handle out to look at it?

These are pictures of the handle. The last two show that the cable is moving when the handle is pulled.

If the cable moves when the handle is pulled, then the handle should be fine. Follow the cable and see what is not working right.

I have followed the cable as far as I can without taking apart the whole door frame. It all looks fine. Any suggestions on where I can find a diagram on how the cable connects to the lever inside the frame? My dad thinks the cable has been stretched, but I still can't make it work when I use a pair of needle-nose pliers to try and pull on the cable. The clicking noise makes me think it is disconnected. So, hopefully a diagram is available out there somewhere so I can review it before taking the frame apart.

I was able to get a diagram from the dealership's parts department. So, now I know what it's kind of supposed to look like. However, the more I think about this, the more I'm baffled. The cable couldn't be disconnected because there's still tension to the handle. Maybe one of the rods at the latch has a problem. Any thoughts?

Thanks for your help so far. I really appreciate it. I just hope that I can fix it myself so that I won't be out $200+ for someone to investigate the problem and most likely not be able to fix it anyway.

Not under warranty anymore?

It still opens from the outside, right?
