I've noticed at take off a sudden shift or slip when the gas pedal is pressed. It only seems to happen from a dead stop. I took it to the local dealer and they said it wasn't the transmission. They did say I might sense some delay since everything was computerized and there was no actual throttle cable. Does anyone know if this is normal.

When I bought my Tundra I was amazed at the sensitivity of the throttle. I had to train myself to go easy on the throttle so I wouldn't give my passengers whiplash. I think the person at the dealership was feeding you a line or just didn't have a clue what to do. If anything the throttles on the second gen Tundras are ultra sensitive.

Thanks for the reply. My passengers have also spoke of the whiplash. I kind of wondered when the tech told me this. I've had two other tundras besides my new one and I have never felt that sudden slip at take off. By the way I like the picture.

Yeah, this sensitive gas pedal makes for some jerky starts when going over bumps.

I don't know if it's the same "effect" your having but, my '07, 5.7 six speed will sometimes have a "stale" spot when I accellerate from a slight stop or very slow roll then seems to slide into gear and take off great... My dealer said it was the transmission down shifting. It does it both in automatic and paddle shift.

Yup, mine does this too. Haven't been to the dealer about it, but I might now.

My 07 sport 5.7 six speed sometimes does this too. Kind of like I had it in neutral and stepped on the gas while shifting into drive at the same time. I have not mentioned this to the dealer. It only happens very occasionally. Hard to duplicate.

Well I've had this feeling of a slight thud into gear from stop since I got the truck. It's only when I'm pulling away slowly though. If I get on it, it hooks up immediately. Of course my Tundra's vin made in April 08 is not within the TSB. I will still be contacting the service dept to consider the TSB when I take it in for the 1st oil change.
