| I got my new Flowmaster 50 SUV dual in/dual out installed today. I had been debating how I should have it run. I didn't really want any chrome tips on there if I could avoid it. There aren't really a lot of choices. Doing an exhaust out each side in the back is a lot of hassle and you run into problems of the spare tire and wires and cables and hoses and... and I decided I didn't want those problems later. I finally just told the guy to turn them down behind the muffler. I really wanted them turned out the side in front of the tire but our leaf springs are a lot longer than the Fords so that couldn't be done safely. Turning them down behind the muffler became the best option and ended up really nice. A very very faint rumble at idle. A tiny bit of drone at 70 with the radio off, but nothing annoying and besides, who drives that slow? But when you punch it, man it sounds good. And of course, I took some pictures of the exhaust on the truck. Even stitched some together so you can see all of it at once. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I asked my mechanic who he would recommend to put it in. He recommended one guy down the street from his shop who does good inexpensive work, but they were moving their shop a couple of blocks and would not be able to do any of it for a week at least. He also recommended another guy who he uses for his own car and his son's car. I went to that guy and his prices were the same or cheaper than the other guys I talked to. Plus he had no appointments for the latter part of the day so I told him to go for it. Nice guy, answered all my questions, and did a good job.

| nice job Tox.. Question - does having the exit of the exhaust interfere with smell on the truck in heavy traffic ? I like ure idea since thats what we used to do on late Camaros or Hot RODS... straigh out of muffler and then bend them down. Would the exit from the Muffler been able to exit towards the rear whell near the passanger door ? ( opposite end of rear wheel where mud flap is ?? what cost of ure mod ? |

| Not much heavy traffic around here. There is some on the interstate, but it's still flowing pretty good even though it's thick. And I just got it this evening so not a lot of experience with it yet. But I guess you might get some smell in the truck from sitting for a while. But that could be from other cars as well. You could angle them toward the wheel. I wanted to take it out the side of the truck in front of the wheel like you are asking. But with the rear springs as long as they are, you can't do it and expect to use it as a 4x4 truck. So you could point them in that direction, but you can't really run the pipe out there. The guy charged me $75 for the install job. I bought the muffler off another Tundra owner for $85 shipped to my door (cheap!!!). So I spent a total of $160 on it which is a really good price. Lucky me I saw the guy selling the unused muffler and bought it before anyone else did. |
