Best Flowmaster setup

This is the muffler I used for a dual exahust www.FixThisRide.com - Flowmaster 524554 50 Series Suv/Perf 2.25
I had them install an X-pipe right after the collectors for better sound and improved flow. I've attached a word document that shows the diagram that the shop used (with the exceptions of an x-pipe instead of the h-pipe). Out the door was 300$ and it sounds nice. Quiet inside with a nice rumble when cruising. You can definitely tell when you step on it.

I got one too

Based on the info I rec'd from these threads, I got the 50 SUV put on my truck as well.

I also had the guys re-locate the exhaust tip to come off the back of the vehicle at a 45 degree angle vs the stock 90 degree. They also raised the exhaust pipe to fit "tighter" to the bottom of the truck. It now looks & sounds alot better, in my opinion.

I got mine At Carlsbad muffler in North San Diego County, about $400 installed for the muffler & the new pipe.

Pictures to follow soon.

picture of revised exhaust

A picture of the pipe exiting out the side at a 45 degree vs the stock 90 degree. Also pulled up "tighter" to bottom of truck.

Now it dosent look like its just hanging there.

Looks good. And I agree that the stock exhaust tip was positioned too low.

Newbie here...not very mechanical either, so I hope these aren't stupid questions...

I have a couple questions as I'm looking at having a Flowmaster added to my Tundra. I understand the concept of dual in/dual out vs. dual in/single out, but is there any difference in sound or performance regarding this? Also what is the difference between the 50 series that I've been reading so much about compared to the Super 40 (or whatever it's called)?

Basically here is what I want: I want to hear the truck fire up when I start it, followed by a low, deep rumble as if awaiting take-off. When I step on it, I want it to be a deep, ballsy roar so that I can be heard coming and going. At cruising speed, I want to be able to hear that I have a non-stock exhaust, but for it not to overpower the inside of the cab (not necessarily quiet, but not blaring). Any comments/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks much!

You probably want the 40 series.

idid the 40 series, and due to that it is a single in/single out exhaust...the tudra currently comes with 2 in one out....the 50 series flowmaster is a 2 in 1 out setup....

i have not heard the 50 series in person, but with the 40 series...nice growl on start up...i really only hear it inside when i am accelerating from a light/stop..or when i get on it she really roars..

i do alot of highway driving 70mph average dont hear any drone(for that matter the exhaust at all(unless trying to pass and give her some gas)) inside the truck at all..

overall i love it, but with the 40 series it will be a bit time consuming for the installer, as the way toyota designed the trucks undercarriage, not much room under there for alot of options to route the 2nd exhaust pipe..

for mine and the way i wanted it we went around the spare tire to come out on the drivers side

hope this helps...

From what I understand TOX turned pipes straight down (dumped) out of muffler to avoid the ROLERCOSTER bending of pipes.
And from what I read drone is not bad.

Check out his pics for 50 suv muffler.
