What SRT8TUNDRA said.

I have the 50 series SUV. It sounded pretty good when I first got, but then it quieted down a bit. Might have been due to warmer weather. Might have been due to the computer learning to run with the new muffler. But after the CAI, sounds pretty good now. Course that might change as the computer relearns the CAI and the muffler.

I had them install an X-pipe right after the collectors for better sound and improved flow. I've attached a word document that shows the diagram that the shop used (with the exceptions of an x-pipe instead of the h-pipe). Out the door was 300$ and it sounds nice. Quiet inside with a nice rumble when cruising. You can definitely tell when you step on it.
Thanks for the link...
Were they offering 20% discount when you bought yours?

Flowmaster 50 SUV:
List Price: $168.90 + $16.46 = $185.36
Ebay Price: $139.95 + $11.75 = $151.70
fixthisride.com: $121.07 + $13.01 = $134.76

There aren't really a lot of choices. Doing an exhaust out each side in the back is a lot of hassle and you run into problems of the spare tire and wires and cables and hoses and... and I decided I didn't want those problems later. I finally just told the guy to turn them down behind the muffler. I really wanted them turned out the side in front of the tire but our leaf springs are a lot longer than the Fords so that couldn't be done safely. Turning them down behind the muffler became the best option and ended up really nice. A very very faint rumble at idle. A tiny bit of drone at 70 with the radio off, but nothing annoying and besides, who drives that slow? But when you punch it, man it sounds good.

And of course, I took some pictures of the exhaust on the truck. Even stitched some together so you can see all of it at once.

I asked my mechanic who he would recommend to put it in. He recommended one guy down the street from his shop who does good inexpensive work, but they were moving their shop a couple of blocks and would not be able to do any of it for a week at least. He also recommended another guy who he uses for his own car and his son's car. I went to that guy and his prices were the same or cheaper than the other guys I talked to. Plus he had no appointments for the latter part of the day so I told him to go for it. Nice guy, answered all my questions, and did a good job.
The muffler guy that did some handy work on my true dual exhaust truck many years ago is no longer in business. So, if I can't find somebody that can do the job @ an affordable price (dual rear exit under $150). I may just have to do the same with my exhaust, tox.

I really like the way mine was dumped. No problems with that part of the install. I think my mpg was better with the stock exhaust so I am not positive if I am going to keep this muffler. I was thinking of using a black grill paint on the muffler just to hide it a little from view when looking under the wheel well.

Changed my mind at the last minute. Found a shop to do my daul rear exit exhaust for $115. (not bad, $35 less than what I was willing to pay).

Flowmaster 50 series -- $135
Installation -------------$115
Tips --------------------$105
-----------------------------
Total -------------------$355

I actually had the exhaust for 2 days before I put the tips. Man, I was REALLY disappointed in the FLOWMASTER 50 series SUV. However, after I put the tips on, it sounded signficantly louder. Am I just hearing things or do tips really make that much of a difference?

It does sound better, but i'm starting to wonder... I recalling seeing on the window sticker that my truck was equipped with an undercab road sound shield. Maybe that is another reason it isn't as loud (to me).

The 50 SUV isn't that loud to start with. Tips change the tone of the muffler. The sound shield is just some tar stuff they spray in the wheel well. Don't do much for the muffler.

The Volant CAI made my muffler louder than it was with the stock CAI. Sounds pretty good now.

what would dual in single out sound like with 50 suv?

I guess what I am asking is just a muffler swap and resonator removal on crewmax?

SEEING THOSE PICS, THEY REALLY HAVE TO BEND PIPES!!
