Help the ROOK...

Aiight here's my dilemma... after doing some research on the different exhaust systems for my Tundra, I've decided togo with the Flowmaster 50/suv dual in single out. Here's the problem, I've tried to go to 2 reputable muffler shops in the area and neither are willing to put them on. Both state that the few Tundras they've done after they got finished the check engine light came on. I'm figuring it had to do with the backpressure, but somebody please shed some light on this for me... I'm feignin a more aggressive exhaust like a fat kid & cake...

First I have heard of that. From my experience a catback has no effect on the ecu as the big restriction is the cat...so reducing pressure behind the cat and o2 sensor has no effect. Are you going with something that removes the cats?

I have read that after market exhausts have little to no effect in terms of Tundra ECU even knowing they are there. I have noticed that even aggressively marketed catbacks show only marginal gains in hp/torque. This is evidence that they have little effect on back pressure. I have not heard nor read of any Tundra that throws a service code when after market exhausts have been installed, doesn't mean that it hasn't happened.

As tony said, if you remove the cats then it is a completely different story.

A muffler swap should not be throwing any codes. I had the Flow 50 suv dual/dual with dumped exhaust put on my truck and haven't had any problems with error codes from it.

How about something like these? Read the video title to see the driving conditions. These are exhaust only, stock intake.

Well, well...

Thanks Y'all, Tox I remember seeing what you did, that's why I figured one of Y'all would know. I'm gonna try and find another muffler shop. For information, I hadn't planned on changing anything except for the muffler. I didn't think a muffler swap would change the system that drastically. By the way both shops pushed in favor for the Borla cat back system. Is it just me or do Y'all think they're trying to get over on a country boy...

Try to find some reviews of the Borla on the Tundra if you go that route. I think they have some drone around cruising rpms. They definitely cost more.
