    Talking Backrack Safety Rack

Hey guys-- I'm new around here, but as continuing with my tendency to mod my vehicles, I found the site.

Anyway, i just searched around and saw that Mercer_me seems to be the only one running a Headache rack, and that some people didn't even know what they were.

The main purpose for me initially getting my Tundra was to actually run Hotshot for a logistics company here in Louisiana. One of the safety measures that we're required to have includes a headache rack to protect from any cargo (or anything else otherwise) from coming through the rear glass in the event of an accident.

Most of the setups I saw when looking around weren't vehicle specific and required drilling into the bed for installation. I found the Safety Rack from Backrack and dug the design because it retained a high level of visibility and it installed using the OEM stake pocket hole and a hole that was already in the truck. It comes in two pieces-- the rack assembly and the mounting kit.

I just got done installing it, and I figured I'd throw up some pictures of the completed install. The only modification i actually had to make was cutting the bedrail side caps out with a dremel as they were just grooves where they should be.

    Front shot

    Rear shot

Mounting kit to the rack (there are variations of the mounts available to accommodate a toolbox, too)

Anchor point to the bed, mount from another angle

Fitment between the rack and the cab

Looks good. I see headache racks a lot, probably because of all the ranchers around.
Any questions about truck mods I have done need to be asked in the forums. Don't send me a private message about mods cause I probably won't answer that PM unless there is money involved.

I'm out in Youngsville, but I still need to get the company vinyl/DOT number on-- i haven't really looked around to see who's in the area, but if you guys get together, I'd love to meet some other tundra owners.

This was the first one i'd seen like this on a tundra, even on the company site; I'm definitely happy with it since i wasnt too keen on getting my frame rails drilled out!

I have a backrack headache rack on my Tundra. It is rock solid and removable. I'm planning to put amber warning lights on it.
