Howdy all ,
This is my official first post in here. I found my way here through a link chasing these Amp steps, what a wierd way to find a cool forum. I am going to order these steps this morning and was wondering if all purchases are still worth it? Has any one ordered the light kit with them? I am an ex A/P mech. so I think I will be able to do the install with ease untill the elect. part (hate things ya cant see that can bite back)
plus I am color blind, so ya may see my hesitation in ordering and installing myself.
If any one has any new light they can shed on this install I sure would appreciate it.
Thanks in advance,
TAMUTUNDRA

Welcome to the forum.

Install is straight forward. Hardest part was running the wires inside the truck to connect to the door switches. The motor covers are a pain in the azz so unless they changed them use small plastic zip ties. Will save a lot of time.

Customer service is first class. Best price is on line. When I ordered mine it was free ship and no tax. Lights are you're choice. I was told they are not very bright.

Any questions we are glad to help.

Know nothing about the AMP steps TAMU, but did notice this is your first post, so howdy right back at you, and welcome to TTZ (from a fellow Aggie!). You might consider posting over in the New Member forum so everyone will see your post and have the opportunity to more formally welcome you!

Thumbs up

Very nice writeup toytuff. If my truck did not come with the Tex. Ed. nerf bars I would probably go for these.

There when you need them and not there to mess up ground clearance when you don't.

Thanks for posting your install experience/tips!

2) Do not try to find the "Door Ajar" wiring info in the manual. We did, and were lost for quite awhile. Finally understood what you guys were talking about and took out the door ajar trigger in the door frame to see what the wire color was. We are the types of guys that need a map with something like this, and I hope this may help others like us. Gently pull out the switch, as there is not a whole lot of play in the wiring. Once we did this, we not only felt pretty dumb, but it made a lot more sense to us.

Did the same thing! Must of missed your post thus the very late reply.

Yeah, pull the door ajar switches "before" the install and write down the wire colors on the instructions. Save blown fuses and lots of time.
