You know, I started thinking about that when I was pulling out the blanks. I was thinking I could do an air intake on one side. Would be cooler if the fake grill piece on the hood could be used as an intake instead.

Thumbs up Very nice write-up Toxarch...

That is the fun thing about doing these mods yourself - finding solutions with stuff around the garage when you run into problems (i.e., the plexiglas solution).

Very well done and thanks for taking the time to share your new found knowledge.

Please keep us apprised on the switch front.

I sent an e-mail to one of the online Toyota parts suppliers. I asked if they have anything they use or can offer as a switch. We'll see what they have. Hopefully it's not the $60 switches that all the dealers sell.

Be warned if you install these. These lights are not designed to be mounted sideways. they are driving lights so in a normal installation, they shine far and wide. So mounted sideways, they shine as two long stripes straight down the road. I got the switch installed after a bunch of grinding and tried them out last weekend when I went to the ranch. They are nice and bright. With those on, you can barely tell a difference when the high beams are turned on. Course that also means it can blind on-coming traffic since they stretch do far down the road if they aren't pointed perfectly straight.

So when my welder comes, I'll make a bracket or buy an angled metal piece to mount these right side up.

Hadn't seen this thread before. Nice job, Toxarch! At some point, I'll be looking to add a couple of these in my empty fog light slots: https://www.bajadesigns.com/NET/item...temCode=613289
