If I ever decide to install these again in another vehicle, remind me that I hated installing these today. I finally got all the exterior wiring done at 1:00 am. A friend decided to go dove hunting in the morning and I decided to go with him. Course I didn't figure this wiring taking so long.

I ran the wires into the truck and did a temporary interior wiring to test the sensors and leave it until Sunday. Well, the front right sensor and the rear right center sensor (the one with the scratch) are both giving false readings. The rear one tells me to stop because I am too close to something and the front right one shows that I am just over a foot away from something at all times. The rear one MIGHT have been reading the tailgate since it was down, and the camera cord MIGHT have been hanging off the tailgate and in front of it. But the camera cord part is doubtful. I'll find out for sure when I go dove hunting in the morning. But I have no clue why the front right one was messed up. That was the ONE sensor I wanted and the reason I installed the kit. And I would hate to go through and rewire it for that one sensor. I didn't even extend that wire so it's either the sensor or maybe I got some silicone on the face, I dunno. I'm tired and going to bed.

I got tired of taking pictures when I became a little nauseous while under the truck. Maybe it was the fumes from the lubricant used while drilling that ended up on the floor. Maybe I got tired of looking up the whole time while laying on my back and running wire. It was a kind of motion sickness feeling. I'll take some finished pictures later to make up for the ones I skipped. I did get the important ones though.

Sounds like a huge PITA. You could just learn to park your truck the old fashioned way...

When you're not nauseous, shooting birds and finished up the wiring job, post up the final product.

I'd had about 8 hours of sleep total the last couple of nights so I slept in this morning. The truck is outside and in the rain right now so I'll wait to find out what is wrong. I drove the truck to go out dove hunting yesterday. The front right sensor keeps giving false readings now and then. And now the rear left sensor is giving a false reading constantly. Not sure what is going on. I'll start unplugging sensors and see what happens. Otherwise, I guess I'll call the manufacturer and see what they say.

I have finished the install. I still get some wierd false readings at times. Oddly, the rear sensors did not have any false readings in the rain, but the front sensors picked up the spray off cars ahead of me. I cleaned up all the silicone around the sensors so maybe that will help, I dunno. Anyway, I need a couple of more pics before I post up the write up. Right now I am uploading the 60 or so pics I will use. Probably won't have time to do the write up until Sunday.

Givin it a try

Boy you got a good price you did. Of course my goal was not to get the cheapest price but the best sensors. I paid $159 from Sports Imports. I am going to mount my control box under the rear bumper and carefully silicon seal it first. It says to mount it "in the trunk" even though these were supposed to be for a truck. They are Chinese it turns out so who knows. Now I need to know which fuse controls the back up lights. Any ideas?

So instead I fixed my fog lights.

I'll start drilling the bumper tomorrow. I have a 7/8" bimetal hole saw for the job so I can't really step up the hole size. My goal is to not destroy the chrome on the bumper. I'll take plenty of pictures.

The sensors were purchased from here:
Parking Sensor Backup Sensors Wireless Parking Sensor Kit

I bought the top ones in a silver color to kinda blend with the bumper.

The rear leads are pretty short so that it can be installed in a trunk. I'm thinking maybe I can install these behind the tail light and just put a plastic bag over it. They recommend behind a truck tail light if it's dry. The bag might work.

I'm thinking that I could install the display unit in one of the overhead compartments if it will reach. That way I can hear the beeps and open the compartment to turn it off or see the display if needed. I don't know for sure yet.

Not sure. I just tapped into the reverse light wire. There is also a reverse wire in the 7 pin trailer plug and you can easily get to the back of that plug. The reverse wire is the center gray wire.

Hadn't seen this thread before. If I had I would have suggested a unibit for the drilling. They are pretty expensive but last quite a while. They use them all the time on chrome and painted parts (Orange County Choppers etc). Since hole saws have actual teeth they would tend to rip the electroplated chrome I would think.
