I need some pics and measurements PLEASE.

I'm putting in my after market parking sensors. What I need are up close pictures of the stock sensors on the bumpers. Some measurements would really help too. Something like distance from the center of the bumper and distance from the top of the bumper. Or whatever you can do as far as measurements and what is easy for you to do. I'm just trying to get close to stock locations. I think I can guesstimate where they go on the front bumper from the far away pictures and I'm going to go try those now. Hopefully there are some here who can help with the rear sensors.

Wish me luck. I've never drilled a chrome bumper before.

The last time I drilled chrome (a number of years ago), I started by using masking tape over the area to be drilled, used very sharp drill bits (new metal bits of course), started with a much smaller drill bit and then worked my way in several steps to the size I needed. Worked for me, but I am not sure that had I simply drilled the hole size needed that I wouldn't have ended up with the same result.

OK, here goes... hope this helps! I can help more if needed!

Here's a view of the rear, two sensors on drivers side.

And the distance from edges.

And the distance down.

And the distance between.

And the front.

Toxarch, please post when you're finished (I'm wishing you luck!). I'm really interested in that as well and would really like to know how it went and where you got it?

Blueheadturner, I'm not currently doing any work on it (see above) but thanks for the pics, as when I do, they'll be really handy!

Blueheadturner, thanks a million. Those are going to really help me out. Thanks for getting those so quick. I went out to start drilling the front bumper, but then decided to wait until I had some pictures of where to install them. Plus I need to figure out a place to install the brain of the sensors. So instead I fixed my fog lights.

I'll start drilling the bumper tomorrow. I have a 7/8" bimetal hole saw for the job so I can't really step up the hole size. My goal is to not destroy the chrome on the bumper. I'll take plenty of pictures.

The sensors were purchased from here:
Parking Sensor Backup Sensors Wireless Parking Sensor Kit

I bought the top ones in a silver color to kinda blend with the bumper.

The rear leads are pretty short so that it can be installed in a trunk. I'm thinking maybe I can install these behind the tail light and just put a plastic bag over it. They recommend behind a truck tail light if it's dry. The bag might work.

I'm thinking that I could install the display unit in one of the overhead compartments if it will reach. That way I can hear the beeps and open the compartment to turn it off or see the display if needed. I don't know for sure yet.

Hope all goes well for you. You might want to use a punch to make a small dent where you wish the drill bit to start so that it doesn't try to "walk" on you!
