For those of you who have never traveled to the west, or southwest, cattle guards are horizontal steel rails placed at fence openings, in dug-out...

For those of you who have never traveled to the west, or southwest, cattle guards are horizontal steel rails placed at fence openings, in dug-out places in the roads adjacent to highways (sometimes across highways), to prevent cattle from crossing over that area. For some reason the cattle will not step on the "guards," probably because they fear getting their feet caught between the rails.

A few months ago, President Obama received and was reading a report that there were over 100,000 cattle guards in Colorado . Colorado ranchers had protested his proposed changes in grazing policies, so he ordered the Secretary of the Interior to fire half of the "cattle" guards immediately!! Probably one of his best decisions - so he thinks!

Before the Secretary of the Interior could respond and presumably try to straighten him out, Vice-President, Joe Biden, intervened with a request that.. before any "cattle" guards were fired, they be given six months of retraining. What a pair!!!

And these guys are running our country, OMG!! :s-suicide:

So mom's got an 01 Mazda Tribute and she said he brakes aren't working very well. I look at it and it's low on brake fluid and she says it's been a while since her last brake job. Brakes can be mashed to the floor and it's a slow stop. No squeal but I figured it's worn out brakes. Pick up a new set of pads and go to change out the front.

The rear are drums and I figured I'd start with the front and then check the rear. I pull the front caliper off and the pads look almost new. LOTS of pad left on it and no uneven wear.:1headscratch2:

So maybe it's air in the brake line. I start bleeding the brake lines starting in the rear and going in the proper order. The old fluid has a slight orange tinge to it but it's not bad and there's no air coming out. I go through a full pint of DOT4 brake fluid. You can pump the brake and it gets firm quick. Maybe that did the trick.

Put the vehicle back together and all the tools up and take it for a spin. Nope. You can still mash the brakes to the floor and the vehicle still comes to a rolling stop. Maybe it's a bad master cylinder? Maybe it's been braking using the rear drums this whole time? I haven't done drums before but know a little about them. Think I can just get to the star wheel and adjust them?

I'm generally a happy person, really I am. So if I sound like I whine a lot I apologize hehe!

I recently put in a DDX616 Kenwood DVD doubleDIN into my Tundra. With the help on here the install went great! So now I'm playing around with it, got the iPod hooked up to it and I find that I can't randomly play ALL videos on the iPod. I have to go through 2-3 menu listings to get back to the video list to the artist and press the play button next to the artists name. The previous menu doesn't have a play all.

So, I give Kenwood's tech support an email asking just that. How do I play all. My response? "Please check your user manual for playable formats on your radio, or go to a local shop and have them demonstrate how to do this".

I don't know about you guys but I'm not sure how the local shop would feel with me marching in there and asking them that when I didn't buy the radio from them. Got it online for $150 less!

------------------------------------------------------------------

On a different topic on the same idea, I called my credit card company that I just switched to because I noticed a $99 fee. When I signed up the card was "no yearly fees". I call, and speak with someone and tell them there must have been a mistake and to take the fee off. The conversation:

"We cannot refund the fee sir"

"Well when I signed up there was no fee, I have it printed out from your website when I signed up - and I'm looking at your website right now and it also says no fee"

"We cannot refund the fee sir"

"Uhm.. I'm not asking to refund the fee - I'm telling you I shouldn't have been charged in the first place"

"We cannot refund the fee sir"

"Are you listening to what I am saying? There must be a mistake, you sent me the wrong card. I applied for a low rate, no fee card. Your site says so right now, I have the exact card and it's picture in my wallet right now - and it's a no fee card. The card is a different color for your $99 fee. I have the white one, with no fee. The green one has a fee, and a 1% cash back feature. I don't want that, I want the no fee no cash back simple card with low interest"

"We cannot refund the fee sir"

At this point I lost it. I almost never yell, I almost never scream at someone on the phone. It's like they were reading a card in front of them in bold type. I was so angry my hands were shaking. I don't mind calling to fix mistakes, I usually don't mind being on hold for a little while, but not being listened to makes me freak out. So... I ask to speak to the manager.

"The manager will tell you the same thing sir"

"The manager please.. immediately, no more talking from you. Manager right now. Thank you."

"One moment"

A short time on hold, and about 2 minutes later - problem was solved. No fee, low interest.

All I can say is unfreakinbelievable. I am so jaded and have been for the past 10 years whenever I see "Our job is customer satisfaction!" commercials I literally chuff out loud. What makes it even worse is when you can't even understand the person on the other end because the accent is so strong, comined with a long distance buzz.

The worlds going CRAZY!!

Or maybe it's just me hehehe! At least it makes interesting stories to tell my friends so we can collectively shake our heads.

Anyone else with awesome customer support stories?
