| WARNING! Don't Remove Your Decals Toyota is advising everyone not to attempt to remove the decals on the Tundra. Toyota says that the decals are part of the paint. If you remove the decal it will leave a pattern etc. I have seen on other forums where people took off the decal and ruined their paint. The only decal I am aware of is the TRD decal. There may be others, but that is all I have seen.

| Great info Sky! I made a copy of this thread and stuck it in the exterior forum. Can you imagine how costly of a mistake this would have been for the uninformed? So what did they do shoot the clear coat over the decals?

| That is what it sounds like. I guess Toyota had some people wanting their Tundras repainted under warranty. Of course Toyota said no, so now they are warning people not to remove the decals. |

| I have heard of people successfully taking off their decals with no paint problems. I guess it depends upon how the decal removal was performed. I received an email from Toyota( which is now gone), warning me that some folks had removed their decals and it left a shadow. Toyota wanted everyone to know that they were not responsible if there were problems. I suspect that certain colors are more difficult than others. Since you were successful in removing your decals, how about sharing the process you used and the color of your truck, it may aid those that want to do this. Also, it helps if you put what type of Tundra, 4WD, TRD, color etc. you have in your signature. It helps when discussing problems etc. if we can look at what you have, since there is such a variation in the different models. This is just a pet peeve of mine and is not required. In the past I have posted long answers to a problem, only to find out later that the person had a different model than I had. While the exteriors are nearly the same, the interiors have some major differences. |

| OK Skyhammer, I updated my sig & Will add a pic of the truck debadged when I get a chance. I'll have Chicks take a picture of her finger nail.....LOL! For the TRD decal removal Chicks used her finger nail to remove them. As for the badges you can use a heat gun/blow dryer to heat up the adhesive behind the badge and then use fishing string (Thick enough string so it won't snap, Think we used #12)to separate the badge from the truck applying the pressure out from the truck to the badge to avoid scratching paint (Two sets of hands helped using heat gun and fishing string at the same time). The adhesive left on the paint was removed by heating and rolling off with a gloved finger, Then use solvent such as WD-40, PB-blaster or Goof Off. Apply a small amount of solvent to a microfiber cloth and wipe off until all adhesive residue is gone. Follow with quick detailer and clay bar to remove any residual solvent and adhesive. Then follow up with wax. If anyone has any questions feel free to shoot us a PM! I'll post some pics of the truck asap.

| I was a little nervous about removing the stickers for him.... I had bad luck in my Titan removing the pin striping last year. After I removed it...you could see the stripes in the paint like they were etched on. Almost as if they applied stickers while clear was wet. I'm still undecided about debadging my white truck. OH and I'll update my sig for ya'll in a bit.

| oh man.. if your going to colour match that chrome bumper, i'll trade you for my colour matched bumper!! I like the look of the chrome and think it goes great with that t-rex grill. My bumper is silver sky, but would be alot easier for you to paint then your chrome one. -kg
